Title: Bug?
Post by: Vzhik on May 11, 2010, 07:32:30 AM
Hi everybody

At me in a network of 160 workstations which I plan to connect to the distributed calculations.
In BT 69 hosts are added, at addition of 70th - the program window hangs (see link below)

Any tab is not accessible. If manually to remove last record in computers.xml - the program comes back in an efficient condition.

You mean the program works with 69. But hangs after you added the 70th computer?

When you check Help->log what's in the log, any error messages.

As you can see, such point is not present.

Lag occurs after addition 70 hosts and information updatings.

That's what I thought, your are the first who reported the limit.

I'm not sure it is wise to raise this limit.
How many computers do you have.

Another option would be to use 2 groups of computers that both have a copy of BoincTasks running. Would that be a solution.

To start two copies simultaneously it is impossible.
But I can change that in the next version 0.55, that will be released at the end of the week.

So e.g.
BoincTasksGroup1.exe computers 1-40
BoincTasksGroup2.exe computers 40-80
BoincTasksGroup3.exe computers 80-120
BoincTasksGroup4.exe computers 120-160

If that's an option for you let me know.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

As me it arranges makeshift. But to start two copies simultaneously - nevertheless it is necessary.

Otherwise it is necessary to renominate ways to computers.xml

And Russian interface  ::)

1) I will make a special version of V 0.55 for you with the limit set to 200 and see if that's workable.
2) If you want to translate the text into Russian....  http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=194.0 (http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=194.0)

Hmm, I'd also be quite interested in BT's behavior with a looot of active hosts - GUI responsiveness, CPU consumption, network transfer, used memory (Working Set, Virtual Memory)... Fred did already address this in the past and made some important changes towards this.
