Questions / Re: CPU usage
July 08, 2009, 07:11:45 PM
I'm just checking the amount of CPU run time in minutes through task manager. I'm not doing any real calculations aside from that.

I haven't used the Rules tab at all.

I hadn't taken into account the number of programs running. I have recently attached to FreeHAL and told it to run 25 concurrent WUs, which it does.

Questions / CPU usage
July 07, 2009, 06:34:30 PM
Over the duration of an hour to an hour and a half, TThrottle requires around 10-15 minutes of CPU time. Keep in mind that the system temperature has not gotten high enough for TThrottle to take action.

I have it set to monitor BOINC along with Folding@Home. I am on an x64 Vista laptop, and I have set the GPU throttle to Laptop. Aside from that, everything is normal. It had not always consumed this much CPU before. Is there some way I can lower the amount of CPU used by TThrottle? I have just sent in a log email, and I can copy and paste the log window on here.

Got it to work. I forgot to fill in a Send To address. Talk about a dumb mistake.

I updated just now to V1.62, and the TLS option was there. I can take another screenshot of the program if you want.

I sent a test email, which worked. When I try to send the logfile, it gives me this error message:

"(M91) tthrottle_mailer.exe not running?"

To clarify, I use gmail for the email system, and I put in my settings according to what was in the FAQ.

This doesn't look right to me. Is it a problem with the app or a problem with my configuration?

Wish List / Version history
June 20, 2009, 03:32:18 PM
On the website under "Download", you can scroll down and see a record of the past versions and their changes. However, this history is only up to 1.47. Perhaps an update is in order?

It will be something you can enable if you wish, modified in all possible ways ;D. But it's just something extra, if you don't need it don't use it.
Just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be hardcoded or anything like that.

Wish List / General throttle questions

After some system crashes the general throttle looks promising.
Made some rules:
if cpu temperature > 70 shutdown     [Does emergency shutdown of the system, as fast as possible]
if cpu temperature > 64 throttle        [Enables a full capture of running programs. They will all be throttled above this setting]
if cpu temperature > 68 email           [Send an email]
if cpu temperature < 50 email           [Send an email when the temperature goes low meaning no BOINC activity]
if gpu temperature < 60 email           [Same but for GPU]
My CPU (AMD Turion64 2.0GhZ dual-core) runs at over 80C on average, with BOINC and F@H running. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I've read about Turions being able to go up to 90-95C before shutting down. If you include a feature like this, please allow it to be tweaked/disabled.

Questions / Weird icon
June 09, 2009, 11:16:05 PM
For some reason, the TThrottle icon looks like this.

(In case you can't tell, it's the icon circled in red)

Is this normal?

A zip or rar file will work ok. And as much as you provider will allow you.
Gmail only allows 25 MB apparently, and that won't do for a ~550MB file. I'm going to email you a link to the file.
