Hi,

is it possible to have the option to show the VM console when you right click on a VM workunit? The option is there in the regular Boinc Manager, so it would be great to have it in Boincstats as well.

Many thanks

I will add it to my to-do list.

So far I found no project that gives out vbox work.

Oh there are quite a few already:

Cosmology@home: http://www.cosmologyathome.org/
Duchamp Sourcefinder: https://sourcefinder.theskynet.org/duchamp/
LHC@home: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/index.php
RNAWorld: http://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/
I tried most, but only got CPU tasks so far.|
A vbox only project would be nice.

duchamp Sourcefinder is a vbox only project, but also in the other projects you can select to only receive vbox work.

That said, I see that the BOINC Manager doesn't support the VM console out of the box.
So far I haven't been able to find the VM console at all on Windows 10.

You need to install Virtualbox for VM workunits, there´s a BOINC installer which have Virtualbox already included (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) or you install VB separately.

So once installed correctly and you run a Virtualbox workunit in the original Boinc manager you then have the task option to show the console.

I know, but the BOINC Manager doesn't show the task option in the default installation.
I have a  LHC@home   LHCb Simulation (vbox64) running.
Will dig a bit deeper in the BOINC Manager source code.

It seems the feature is not activated by default, but each project can decide to use it.

For example the LHC subproject ATLAS uses it.

So that would make my request a minor thing if it´s too difficult to implement.

For now it's an item, when I stumble upon a solution, I will implement it.
