Some year (and half?) ago fred have intentionally limited it to at most some number of messages per client. Maybe it's because BT does not keep all messages for all connected clients, just for the one currently displayed, and re-reads them from client when switching the displayed client? IIRC each client is caching 2 000 most recent messages. I do not remember the exact reasons and numbers anymore.
I'm also often using BOINC Manager's Event view just for this reason - it keeps all messages since the client start.

Yes, I'm still running my clients through their managers - alpha testing their bugs too.
