Title: Copy computers.xml ?
Post by: dstegner on December 09, 2011, 12:26:27 AM
I have BoincTasks running great on one machine (1.25).
I have installed it on another machine and wanted to save myself the effort of redoing the computers.
I copied computers.xml to the new machine and when I open BT on the new machine, it just hangs.

I read the FAQ about locations and this appears possible but, I couls be wrong.

Any help apreciated.

Dave

I've done that in the past and had no problem, but have to had some issues:

- save computer.xml as backup somewhere.
- edit with notepad computer.xml
- in line where localhost is shown exchange for the new IP of your old localhost.
- exchange the IP figure of the new controlling machine (the one with BT now) for the name localhost.

this should be enough to start again without any crash, sometimes you could do it just started BT in the computer tab, but is absolutely the same that stated above.

and better try BT 1.29

Have tried exactly as you state.

Still just hangs.
