That machine has pretty much everything attached (unfortunately).  At the moment it is working correctly.  I would also like to note that there are about 50 CPDN files awaiting upload.
Most likely a bug in the BOINC Alpha  client.
I have a second computer with the same problem.  It is also running 6.13.x.  It doew not have the large number of waiting uploads..

I have one computer for which BT is reporting all tasks as state "new" and no color highlighting.  Information such as % complete is correct (and updating for those projects that are running).  I thought it might be the large number of tasks that was the problem.  I reported most of the reportable ones and that did NOT fix the problem.  BT does work correctly for a few minutes before it starts doing this.

The BOINC is 6.13.8 on a remote computer.
What projects are you running? I will try to test it.
I've seen there are some changes in the status.
That machine has pretty much everything attached (unfortunately).  At the moment it is working correctly.  I would also like to note that there are about 50 CPDN files awaiting upload.

A partial list of tasks from the last few days:

New messages prompt won't go away.  If I visit the messages page, all of the messages should be marked as "not new".  BOINC Tasks keeps flipping to the foreground (yuck, please do NOT do this as it takes the keyboard away from whatever I am doing) - this may be related to the new messages problem.
I store the last received message time. When a message with a later time stamp appears the icon message should popup.
But sometimes the client keeps refreshing the received time.
But when does BT comes to the foreground.
1) When the Window is open but not on the foreground.
2) Minimized.
3) Hidden in the taskbar.
1)  When the Window is open but not in the foreground.

Not certain about #2 or #3.

I am getting the following error on Windows 7 64 bit.

Fatal error in language file:  C:\Program files\eFMer\BOINCTasks\lang\BOINCTasks_ENU.btlang
Look in c:\Program Files\eFMerBOINCTasks\lang\BOINCTasks_ENU_error.txt for more details.

The referenced file does not exist.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit computer on which BT 0.91 has entered a continuous loop of die, restart.  The only way to stop this was to reboot the computer.  I was in the process of adding computers when it happened.

First, a program should not just die.  Second, it should not enter a forever loop trying to restart.
It will stop trying after a couple (10) of times, this was added in V 0.91 to prevent these kind of loops.
I'm interested in the dump files. And what you where doing exactly.
This sounds like a serious problem, but should be easy to detect.
If you can PM me you email, I will email them tomorrow.  I was adding computers, and when the program switched to the tasks view, it blew up.  BTW, it was many more than 10 crash and restarts.

Computer name sorting is incorrect.

If you have numbers in name, "10" is sorted as after "1".

eg
(computers tab):
1-pc
10-pc
2-pc
3-pc
4-pc

(sidebar computer selection):
10-pc
1-pc
2-pc
3-pc

Can it be sorted like "10" is after "9" and so on?
The sort should be a string sort.  Attempting to find the numbers and sort on that is going to be problematic.

If you want it to sort correctly, try naming the computers:

01-pc
02-pc
...
10-pc

I have been having trouble with 2 major problems recently.

1)  BT 0.84 and a few previous versions occasionally post an Öut of Memory" warning.  Several of these are posted and the program then crashes.
2)  Random crashes.

I am willing to try to help debug the problem.

Displayed lines with tasks, projects, messages, history etc. are too tight vertically - a couple of characters' pixels below the base font line are overwritten by the adjacent line - characters like "j/i", "y/v", "g/q/o/p", "_/ ", ";/:", ",/.", "Q/O" are hard (or impossible) to distinguish between...
Fixed in V 0.80. Had a nice example, but the example as often, was a bit off. Was a bit more complicated.
Now the text is more readable ::).

I will release a new version A.S.A.P. as this is a more serious problem.

The correct calculation is m-height + ascender + descender + leading.  (from memory, I wrote part of a typography program once upon a time).

I agree.  But the Tasks view sure is getting crowded on the X axis.  Thanks be to Bill Gates for tooltips & slider bars :)

Speaking of which Fred, have you investigated mouse shortcuts for show/hide columns (similar to MS Excel)?  Ditto dragging columns to a new location.  I'm not sure if your tabular format lends itself to this as VisualBasic does.  But the current Extra>BoincTask Settings>Tasks GUI is pretty clunky by today's standards (no offense intended) ;D
It's all in the programming, it's possible to do whatever I like it to do, but most simple things involve a couple off 100++ lines of code. And time.
But maybe now it's time to finally do it.
??

Most grid controls have this built in as a behavioral setting.

2)
Item - Set Task to be *Waiting To Run*
Would it be possible to add the ability to set a task into the *Waiting To Run* state (without actually starting it) ?

Reason -  Sometimes is is nice to clear out odd tasks that need to be processed before the others currently in the *Ready To Start* status.  I like to do this to clear out short-processes, or ones that are 'older' (SETI-dated).  Currently, I do this my suspending all the others, then suspending a running task (hence, starting the one that I want to start), and them resetting all of them back to un-suspended, then doing fix-ups on those that should be running, etc.  It is a painful process that could be eliminated by being able to set a task higher up in the queue by setting it to the *Waiting To Run* state.

2) Don't think that's possible.
Yet another thing that would have to be implemented in the BOINC client.

See my ancient proposals on BOINC_dev mailing list and before on BOINC dev message boards.
Attempting to force BOINC to run a particular task now is usually, although not quite always, a bad idea.  The only time that I have seen this to be needed is with new projects that have the fpops_est wrong.  On the second+ computers to start work, I will force it by suspending everything else for a while.  I think this points out the need for a different twist in the BOINC CPU scheduler.  The twist I would like to see added to the BOINC scheduler is to run the first task from a new project at medium priority.

Wish List / Notices tab?
August 06, 2010, 06:08:39 PM
The new BOINC Manager is adding a notices tab (and removing the messages tab (grumble)).

This looks like it might contain useful information.  Any thoughts about adding this?
