Questions / BoincTasks won´t start with Windows
March 15, 2022, 08:40:53 AM
Hello,

I needed to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10 but now I am unable to make BoincTasks start automatically when I turn on my PC. I have set "Start BoincTasks when logged in" (I am using the german version so not sure what the exact english expression is here),
but nothing happens and I always need to manually start BT.

Any advice?

Wish List / Re: Show VM console
June 12, 2017, 09:51:12 AM
It seems the feature is not activated by default, but each project can decide to use it.

For example the LHC subproject ATLAS uses it.

So that would make my request a minor thing if it´s too difficult to implement.

You need to install Virtualbox for VM workunits, there´s a BOINC installer which have Virtualbox already included (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) or you install VB separately.

So once installed correctly and you run a Virtualbox workunit in the original Boinc manager you then have the task option to show the console.

duchamp Sourcefinder is a vbox only project, but also in the other projects you can select to only receive vbox work.

Wish List / Show VM console
June 16, 2016, 08:14:29 AM
Hi,

is it possible to have the option to show the VM console when you right click on a VM workunit? The option is there in the regular Boinc Manager, so it would be great to have it in Boincstats as well.

Many thanks

Questions / Can´t connect with MAC address
November 11, 2013, 04:11:21 PM
Hi,

yesterday I tried to use the new feature of mac addresses, but I can´t connect with that. (Boinctasks 1.57)

I deleted the IP address in the computer tab and entered the MAC address but nothing happens, the project and tasks tabs are both empty, but in taskmanager I see that the different project applications are running. Did I do something wrong? I´ll try 1.58 this evening.

Wish List / Show more columns in gadet window?
November 11, 2013, 03:50:45 PM
Hey,

would it be possible to allow the gadget window to show more columns, maybe make it more configurable? So e.g. also show deadline, cpu usage etc.

Many thanks

I just checked my Mobile option but it is already disabled. I don´t know what could cause the issue.
There are so many thing that effects shutdown.
But let BoincTasks close and see how long it actually takes.
Check the BoincTasks log in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\BoincTasks\log
Ok, shutdown is delayed by around 15 seconds which is not the end of the world. I cannot find a suspicious entry in the logs. As this behaviour is new in this version I believe it has something to do with 1.44 but it is not a major issue right now. Let´s see if this is the same with 1.45.

Regarding logs, I didn´t find an option to delete log files after x days. Would that be possible or is it already there but I´m blind?

Many thanks

Ah ok, I should have checked the changelog for 1.45 first, sorry for that.

Thanks

Beta Testing / BT 1.44
December 13, 2012, 05:03:45 PM
Hi,

I´m actually not sure if my issue is related to BT 1.44 but since some time now I have issues when I want to shut down my Windows 64 OS. I get a message that BT prohibites the correct shutdown, so I close that message window and then shut down again and then the PC shuts down.

I have tried different options, like stopping the tasks before shutting down, switching projects etc. but it is the same every time.

Never had this behaviour before with a BT version so I assume it is related to 1.44

Many thanks

Beta Testing / BT 1.33

Hey,

I just installed BT 1.33 and happily found out that iOS is supported now which is great. So thank you very much for this development version.

However: I have checked the manual and established a connection to my iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1 but when opening Safari there the page permanently reloads. A iPad reboot didn´t help as well. My ipod touch 1st generation has the same issue.

I am actually not an iOS expert so I´m not sure what other information I could give you for a possible solution?
