Wish List / Re: kbps should be kBps on transfers
« on: September 14, 2020, 07:05:36 pm »
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
Do a search for the line above. It may be system related.
Keep me informed if you get another crash.

That was on my best and perfectly reliable machine.  It's never produced any errors at all in the 2 years I've had it (from new).   It only screwed up trying to do the update.   And it seemed to be trying to install it about 3 times at once (not sure what caused that), which would explain the error.

Has 1.81 been released somewhere?  I have 1.80, and clicking on update says there isn't one.  Your website has 1.78 or 1.80 beta available, but no 1.81.
I was about to, but then my computer crashed with a boot failure, so I'm busy getting things working again.

Downloaded and installed, thanks.  But the setup program is a bit fragile.  I got a memory error twice, then it told me it had installed but hadn't done so (still said version 1.80), so I had to try it a few times.  Eventually it got there (one caused Boinctasks to crash).  The memory error is below, the crash log doesn't seem to exist, although since the dialog box telling me where to look disappeared after 5 seconds, I may have gone to the wrong place.

ShellExecuteEx failed; code 299.

Wish List / Re: Allow shutdown of remote clients
« on: June 13, 2020, 11:33:52 am »
I can do it with access to the Boinc manager on the remote computer (i.e. being at that computer, or using a remote desktop to get to its boinc manager).  Are you saying that the boinc client doesn't have this function for the remote access?  If so I'll ask over there.

Cloud / Re: Cannot add "computer" column to cloud
« on: June 13, 2020, 11:31:53 am »
It doesn't work with mine.  I can change the columns and every one is displayed except computer.  Let me know if there's a way I can show you.  If you can access my cloud I can set it up and give you a screenshot of what I see locally.

Cloud / Cannot add "computer" column to cloud

I have Boinctasks successfully transmitting to the cloud, but the computer column doesn't show up.  That would be useful as I have 6 machines.

Wish List / Allow shutdown of remote clients

Boinc Manager can shutdown the remote client it's connected to.  It would be nice if Boinctasks could also do this, at the moment it will only shut down the local one.

Cloud / Re: Can't set up cloud account?
« on: May 19, 2020, 12:58:18 pm »
I don't get that far, I can see nowhere to create an account.  Tried Opera and Edge browsers.  I can only see a place to login.

Assume I'm 5 years old and explain what to click :-)
At the bottom of the page https://cloud.seti.nl
You should see Create new account Resend and Forgot.

Just tested with Opera.

Ok, my mistake.  I didn't spot it down there.

Wish List / Re: Display number of CPUs not % in "use at most"
« on: May 19, 2020, 12:55:29 pm »
Yes, I asked them to change it and they told me to get lost.  I thought perhaps Boinctasks could translate the number into a percentage.
It should be solved at the source, the client know everything about the machine.

Well apparently the Boinc programmers think percentages are a better idea.  In case for some reason I change the CPU?!  I'd want to change the number of cores used then anyway and not keep a fixed percentage.

In extra, boinc preference, processor, "on multiprocessor systems, use at most", the number of CPUs would be easier than the percentage.  I have two machines with 24 cores each.  Converting to a percentage is a nuisance and requires me to get my calculator out!

Be aware that if this has to be converted to a percentage to give to boinc, then it should increase it slightly.  Eg if I have 3 cores and enter 66.6%, it will use only 1 core.  If I enter 66.7% it will use 2 cores.  Boinc rounds down, not up.

Cloud / Can't set up cloud account?
« on: May 10, 2020, 12:29:50 pm »
Is the cloud still functional?  I tried to set up an account, but I can only see an option to log in.  It says I don't have an account and please create one, but there is no link to do so!

Wish List / Please fix the date format in the deadline column
« on: May 10, 2020, 11:20:10 am »
I have Windows 10 set to display quite a long date format, so Boinctasks is showing "Wed, 20/5/2020 11:15:09 AM" in the deadline column which makes it rather wide.  I tried changing the setting in extra, boinctasks settings, view, but the user defined option doesn't work.  It just shows exactly what I type, eg "d, HH:MM:SS" and doesn't interpret it as a date and time.

Questions / Re: Two instances of Boinctasks at once?
« on: April 19, 2020, 11:50:37 pm »
Yeah, in hindsight, flipping through the computers one by one on the sidebar is a better way to check things are all running right.  So I wouldn't bother wasting time making what I requested, I've stopped doing it that way.

One has to wonder why the Boinc manager looks so awful.  I couldn't imagine using just that, even with a single computer.  Maybe you should ask if Boinc can incorporate your coding into theirs to make it all in one?
