Wish List / Re: Remove projects not initializing
February 02, 2020, 04:28:58 PM
I finally figured this out.  Goofy project has moved a few times and I used wrong url to attach.  That caused the http error.  I still had to use standard BOINC manager to detach it though.  I think somehow BOINCTasks didn't see it as a project so didn't give the option to detach.

Thx I finally figured this out a few weeks ago and came here to post.  Weird thing to me is this is worst when using Notices option.  I decided I didn't really need a notice since I see the task paused anyway.  So this fixed it but I think kind of a buggy behavior and maybe can be changed in the future.  Thanks for your help.

I meant Goofygrid not GPUGrid.  Goofy is least reliable project in BOINC that has ever been.  I have a few machines I tried to attach with BOINCtasks but failed.  I think some error on the Goofy server.  I left these go for at least a week and they still haven't attached, still giving an error.  But I can't do anything with it in BOINCTasks.  I have to go into standard BOINC manager to detach.  Right now Goofy is down so it doesnt matter anyway.

I think probably the rules causes it.  But I never saw a popup notice.  usual behavior I would be in the web browser and I would lose control of the window.  Or trying to type something, all of a sudden I was no longer typing in the window.  Pretty aggravating. I disabled rules now and haven't noticed the problem for awhile.  The weird thing was the machine would seem fine for a couple days and then the problem would start it seemed random.

Wish List / BoincTasks Stealing Window Focus
December 16, 2019, 02:59:08 AM
It took me a long time to figure this out.  I have finally tracked this problem down to BoincTasks thanks to Window Focus Logger.

http://www.adminscope.com/downloads/window-focus-logger/

BoincTasks is often taking focus from the active window when its minimized to the tray.  Sometimes the computer is almost impossible to use if I'm trying to type something, like this post.  I've tried to disable notices and warnings, but haven't got a solution yet.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I'm on 1.80. Actually I'd like to go back to the old version I had before installing this one, I don't remember the version number but it didn't do this when using it a few years.

You can't if there is an error.  Attaching to GoofyGrid I got an HTTP error.  Right click in the project tab does nothing.  I have to go into BOINC manager to detach the project.

Thanks, you're probably right it's more of a Windows problem not BoincTasks.  In the past the icon in the task bar hasn't been visible in the task bar either.  I'll try this process next time this happens.  I've gotten in the habit of using the regular manager to handle new projects.

I've had a long standing problem with the new project window on my multi GPU and monitor machine.  The window always comes up on a secondary monitor, if it comes up at all.  Sometimes it doesn't show anywhere, at least not where I can find it.  Other times when I find it, it disappears when I'm moving it or trying to type in it.

I just updated to both 1.78 and the beta 1.8 but the problem is still there.  Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thank you Fred!  :)  I tried this 1.61 beta but no change.  I check the folder but no log is there.  I won't worry.  It's working good except for this strangeness!!  8)  Maybe one day I reinstall if bored.  ;D

Yesterday I have a nice nvidia driver crash while crunching with BT.  ;D  After this my gpu jobs only show in the gadget.  I restart and restart process made BT program crash.  I had to clear crash message so computer would reboot.  After computer restarted this gpu job condition stayed.  Checking today I find if I uncheck Show GPU Task setting the jobs show.  The setting function seems to get reversed from normal!  :D  They always show in the gadget either way.

BT 1.59
nvidia driver 335.23  650ti Boost card and GT430 card 1 of each
GPUGrid, POEM and Einstein gpu projects.  Einstein run on weak GT430   :P  GPUGrid and Poem run on 650ti but I don't know which at time of crash!  :D

This BT program works great!  It's a weird bug!  ;D

Basically you should not use "Use at most" and TThrottle at the same time, use one or the other.
"On multiprocessor" can be used with TThrottle.

Then I set Use at most to 100% and TThrottle will run according to its preference settings.  This is the correct way?   Use at most have to have some value there, I tried leaving it blank and set to 0 and in each case it set itself to 100%.  :D

Hello,

Thank you for your programs I enjoy them a lot.  :)

I have a question which I haven't seen answered.  BOINC has a setting for how much processor time to use.  TThrottle also has this setting.  Which takes priority?
Example
BOINC processor time = Use at most50% of processor
TThrottle cpu use is max 50 min 50.
Does this mean BOINC will use 25% of the processor? (TThrottle uses 50% of the BOINC preference setting?)  Or TThrottle ignores this BOINC setting and uses 50% processor time?

Asked another way are TThrottle cpu min/max values determined by the BOINC processor time setting?

I hope this is clear. ;D
Thank you.
