Thanks Fred.  TT is a great utility and BT is simply amazing!

For recent versions of TT:  when right clicking on the tray icon there are only 2 choices,  "Open" or "About", no longer an "Exit" choice.  This behavior is the same on all of my machines.  The only way

What version are you using?

What happens:

1) The graph disk copy is read back from disk.
2) When ready the exit should be there.

So it may take a couple of seconds, even more for the exit to appear.

Check the expert tab xx Days buffer.
Or disable it all together by removing the check at "Keep disk copy"

Happens on all recent versions including 7.40.  Waiting for minutes didn't make any more choices appear.  Removed the "Keep disk copy" checkmark, killed the TT process and restarted.  Voila, all the right click choices are back and function as expected.  Thanks!

For information:  I've had this happen a number of times with various machines when changing to monitors of differing resolutions.  Seems the only way to get it back was to uninstall TT and reinstall.

I see 2 temperature readings that are the from the same card. A 7 degrees difference can't happen withing a second.

It's not something that we can't live without but it would be nice to be able to use the ATI cards without using a dummy plug.  BOINC now works properly (I assume since they fixed their ATI support) and Afterburner detects both the cards and the temperatures correctly.  TT is the only part of the equation that makes the dummy plug mandatory.

I would agree, except that both BOINC and MSI Afterburner detect the GPUs correctly.  They must be using another method?

In 5.93 I added:

<GPU_SETUP>

<GPU_SETUP>

1 adds cards that are inactive.  But I have no idea what's inactive.

If I use the above as the tthrottle.xml, TT lists 3 instances of GPU 0, 2 instances of GPU 1 and passes the same GPU 0 temp on to BT for both GPUs.  I also tried:

  <ati_number_gpu> 2 </ati_number_gpu>

and TT listed 2 GPUs but the temps were both GPU 0.

I spoke too soon.  While TT is now indicating 2 GPUs and sending 2 temps to BT, they're both for the same card.  Here's a log:

GPU 1 is actually a 4770 and is running at a higher temp than indicated.  GPU 0 is the 5850.

Edit:  Another interesting detail, even with the dummy plug on, TT will read only the 5850 and send 2 of the same temps to BT if   <ati_number_gpu> 2 </ati_number_gpu> is in the tthrottle.xml.  It will only correctly read both cards with that line commneted out or the tthrottle.xml removed from the directory.

Indeed it did on the machine in question.  There's a typo in the xml though though, I believe the closing line should be:

I'll try it on some others later and see if it also works for them.

Question:  If it wasn't for TT not seeing the ATI without dummy plug I would leave it off, so wouldn't have to deal with the irritating Windows phantom desktop.  Any way TT could be made to see/control the GPU without a dummy plug?

You have to ask ATI, it's something in the driver that blocks the reading of the card.
There thinking may be no display, no use, no need of a temp.

There must be a way as GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner and even BOINC find the GPU and read it correctly with no dummy plug.  TT doesn't see the GPU at all.

Edit:  As usual, my bad.  When putting in the 4770 card I forgot to attach the dummy plug.  After attaching the dummy plug TT detects both GPUs properly.  Strange thing is that BOINC and all the other utilities still worked correctly.

Had to remove a 5850 card in one machine because of fan problems.  Replaced it with a 4770, so the box now has 1 5850 and 1 4770.  TThrottle isn't seeing the 4770 GPU.  Windows sees it, so does BOINC (and it works normally) and CPU-z, GPU-z and Afterburner.  Only TThrottle misses it.  I tried re-installing 5.92.  Then tried deleting all TT directories and all TT references in the registy.  TT still doesn't see the 4770.

At least with AMD motherboards (not sure about others) the ATI/AMD GPU should always be in slot 1 when using a mixed ATI/AMD/NVidia environment.
