Hello everyone!

Here's what's happening: I've been noticing this occurring in the later versions (of BT) and was hoping it would be fixed as each successive version was released. Because it appears that it hasn't tells me this may be a local problem and not a BT issue, but I thought I'd share and see if others of you have experienced this.

Ok, so, I have BT running (version 1.27 currently). All appears fine and normal initially, I have several systems all displaying that they are connected and processing tasks. After awhile (I haven't tried getting a closer idea of time involved here, I apologise), The task data disappears from my display. If I check the Show / Computers display, the systems show connected, however, I cannot see information for tasks, projects or history. Exiting and restarting seems to help initially, but the issue returns shortly thereafter. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the interface receiving user input (screen changes, etc.), since this seems to occur during long intervals of 'user' idle time (overnight or between checks during the day).

I'm running BT on an Acer One with a dual core Intel Atom processor running at 1.6GHz with 1GB RAM. There does not appear to be any resource issue, nor does there appear to be any communication or throughput issues on the network.

What do you think?

Questions / BoincTasks under RHEL6
August 06, 2011, 07:16:03 PM
Hello everyone! I hope you can help me:

I am successfully running BOINC under RHEL6 (64 bit). However, what's happening is I can't connect to the instance using BoincTasks (obviously on another machine). The closest I've come to actually connecting is "Not connected (R)".

The solution lies in port forwarding. BOINC listens on port 1043, BoincTasks on 31416. I have setup port forwarding to take anything coming in from 31416 and forward it internally to 1043. Problem is, it's not working. Firewall is correctly configured (from what I can see) and SELinux is disabled for the time being.

I'm hoping someone knows what I've missed or mis-configured (I admit, this is my first experience with this).

Wish List / Sidebar Computer Selection enhancements
July 07, 2011, 12:59:55 PM
I have 2 separate networks in my house, joined by a wireless bridge. When I want to see how "the downstairs" is doing, I open the Sidebar Computer Selection (I don't normally have it displayed) and choose what systems I wish to see as a group (using ctl key to choose). This led me to an idea.

Could this feature be user configurable to allow systems to be placed in group folders and additionally displaying group totals (i.e a separate line in the Tasks at the top)?

Questions / Work unit control
May 14, 2011, 04:34:58 PM
I'm running V1.0 - I have noticed that if I don't mark the task name to display under settings/tasks, I have no control over them through the GUI (for instance, to abort a task). I can go through all the dialogs to perform the task on the WU, it just doesn't happen. Additionally, if I right click on the task in the GUI and choose properties, the dialog appears, but is blank. When I INCLUDE the WU name, it all seems to work ok.

Can anyone else verify this?

Questions / Running Jobs Filter
April 27, 2011, 08:16:21 PM
Could a non-running jobs filter be added to that list? (i.e. to only show running jobs)
