well, I didn't run Tthrottle from 03/07/2011 until today.
Today I downloaded the latest beta (3.4.0) and it ran from 24 March 2011 - 14:19:07 until 24 March 2011 - 16:31:06 (determined by the logfile 24-03-2011.log)and then It froze again.

debug_logging = 1 but no debug info just entries as follows:

I ran 5 days with no problems.
This morning at 7:15 I started Tthrottle.
The system Froze at 11:59.
Some log info is included.

CPUz values for memory same as SPD.
I went in and changed settings from auto to the values shown on the Corsair site for the memory (same as obtained via auto).
The frequency ranges from 200 Mhz to 376 Mhz (AMD Cool 'n' Quiet is enabled)

I will run with these settings and a minimal selection of software for a few days and if no freezing I will start adding back programs a few at a time.

This will take some time but I know no other way to figure this out.

Thanks for your help.  :)

I ran without Tthrottle for 3 days and it froze again so it is NOT a Tthrottle problem.

This has happened on 2 different PCs with 2 different sets of memory.
Memory BIOS settings are auto.
No overclocking
Win7 Memory test shows no problems.

I am going to turn off all programs and let it set for a few days and then start turning programs on a few at a time.

Sorry that I blamed Tthrottle but it really looked like that was the problem ... my bad! :'(

<<Do you use the general throttle?>> no, one time I had CPUID and Process Lasso both open when It froze.
BOINK was not running.
TThrottle was not showing any CPU use (< 1%).
Core was cool - about 33 C.
No throtteling at all ... TThrottle running CPU and GPU at 100%.
The elapesed times are anywhere from 1 to more than 24 hours.

Why are there no entrys in the log?

Beta testing problems / Computer Freeze ... no dump
February 27, 2011, 07:11:15 PM
I have been fighting a freeze up problem on 2 different PCs one of which I rebuilt to try to solve the problem.
I see a frozen screen with no option except hardware reset button.
This happens at various times and I first thought It was caused by SpeedFan because it would happen sometimes during SpeedFan start-up. I stopped running SpeedFan and it didn't happen as often but it still occurred.
I rebuilt this PC and started adding programs back one at a time.
When I started Tthrottle it started occurring. I stopped using Tthrottle for a few days and it stopped.
I went through this process about 4 times with and without SpeedFan and the problem always/only occurs with Tthrottle.
I am going to send a log via the Email function of Tthrottle. I wish I could add more information but there doesn't seem to be any tracks in the system logs.
I also ran Tthrottle with Gflags.exe with heap tail checking , heap free checking , heap parameter checking and heap validation on call set. Freeze occured without trap going off.

I have not seen anyone else reporting this problem and I do NOT know what else I can do to solve this.
Bye the way ... the log "Debug" box is checked but the only thing showing up in the log file C:\Users\dan\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\TThrottle\log) is " Start logging"

Wish List / Re: Manual update?
November 08, 2010, 08:04:13 PM
I have the following rule:
if cpu temperature > 55 throttle reset 50

I expect this to start throtteling at 56 and keep it up until the temp goes down to 50.
Is this correct?

Wish List / Manual update?
November 08, 2010, 05:45:48 PM
Can the manual get updated?
There is nothing in there about rules.

from FAQ:
if gpu temperature < 58 email reset 68
When the gpu temperature goes above 68 degrees the rule becomes active. If the gpu temperature goes below 58 degrees an E-Mail is send.

This seems counter to my understanding of the rules grammer but nothing in the manual to explain.

Wish List / Add a disk LOG file?
November 08, 2010, 05:32:09 PM
I would like to see an option to turn on a disk log file for debugging.
I realize that this would slow down the program but sometimes I really want to see what is going on 'under the hood'.
It could run with a big warning on the task window so you don't forget.
It should be set to run at startup if a config file entry is true.
various options could be used to explore different functions.

<!--    ==============
   set LOG File

<!--
<LOG>
      <LOGFILE>1</LOGFILE>
      <LOGFILEDISK>C:\Program Files\eFMer\TThrottle\LOGFILE.txt</LOGFILEDISK>
      <LOGFILEoption-1> ... </LOGFILEoption-1>

      <LOGFILEoption-n> ... </LOGFILEoption-n>
</LOG>
-->

Thanks for considering this

Beta Testing / Re: Testing Version 3.00
November 06, 2010, 05:00:35 PM
I have had time to look at V3.00 and have noticed the following:
The temperature is set to 54%.
the following rules are in effect:
if cpu temperature > 57 throttle reset 54
if cpu temperature > 58 sound reset 54
if cpu temperature > 60 shutdown

The temp varies from 52 to 58 several times a minute.
Throttling seems to be lost for BOINC processes.
Number of matching Programs (Processes): 0 is shown on the programs tab.
[edit]
the following flashes on the programs tab when the throttle rule is triggered:
Number of matching Programs (Processes): 2

This works for me both tasks' CPU usage are throttled and the GPU is ignored.

<< I've solved it by manually adding some Einstein executable(s) (tomorrow I can tell exactly) to Programs tab / "Expert" checkbox / exe.cutable name substring + "[ v Add v ]" to Programs list.>>

I did that (which is fine for me) but others may need the program to work "out of the box" as it were. I hope the program becomes a "turn-key" function for everyone to use.

tasks that use 1.00 GPU and 1.00 CPU escape Tthrottle control during high CPU temp events.
CPU is not checked for these tasks.

this allows overheating until the universal throttle rule kicks in.

I waited 1/2 hour and it finished ... I hope that this is a one time only process!
