There is a password file on every computer but the passwords have been removed
Interesting, not something I tested, so I'm not sure that will work. So this may cause problems.
Been doing that since version 1.16. Never had a problem before.

Using:
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
Is the preferred way.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration
Already tried that. Still will not connect to that host.

Update. Downgraded to version 1.25, no more problems.

You need a password file, the BOINC client should create a new one if one is missing.
Best to restart the computer.

Quote from: fred on November 26, 2014, 12:29:49 AMno IP found for MAC address means the computer blocks the MAC  - > IP translation.
In this case blank out (remove everthing) the MAC Address field and fill in an IP address in the IP Addres field.
Not sure what you mean here. Where do I remove the MAC addy and put in an IP addy? Each computer has it's own assigned IP address.
If the BoincTasks find computers option found the computers on my network shouldn't it be able to connect to them?

Questions / Problem after updating to 1.66
November 04, 2014, 12:58:04 AM
After updating to version 1.66 2 of the computers on my network are no longer seen by Boinctasks. No settings were changed. Checked everything on the 2 missing computers and everything is the same as before. Have no idea what happened.

Questions / BoincTasks mobile and iOS7
September 29, 2013, 01:35:20 PM
Can't get mobile to work on iPAD with the new Apple OS. Put the icon with the IP address on the home screen but when I try to connect all I get is "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding." What am I doing wrong?
#7
I switched to another host with BoincTasks and it works fine so somehow the one with problems somehow got corrupted. There are no error messages in the Boinc event log. The version of BOINC I'm using was updated weeks ago. When I get the chance I'm going to do a complete uninstall, delete all the folders, clean out the registry and try a fresh reinstall. I give you a heads up with results when done.

There are no errors in the messages when trying to use the functions that don't work.
Quote from: fred on May 11, 2013, 05:33:35 PMThere is always a password, it's here C:\ProgramData\BOINC\gui_rpc_auth.cfg
Simply copy it to the password field in the computer tab. This works most of the time.
I edited the gui_rpc_auth.cfg config file and removed the password on all hosts. You'll have to trust me that there are no passwords used. I've been using this configuration for years without issues.

Quote from: fred on May 11, 2013, 05:33:35 PMThe problem is that the folder C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ isn't accessible by BoincTasks.
This may be fixed by trying to open the folder, sometimes this works.

The C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ folder is hidden by default. I have Windows set to show hidden files so I can open it and edit config files as needed. Like I said earlier I have not changed any settings. This problem started for no apparent reason.

No passwords are used and other than the problem on the Projects tab everything else works fine.
I did restart Windows. Didn't help.
Updated to version 1.46

I've been using version 1.16 for a long time because it worked like a charm. Now, out of nowhere, there is a problem. When I go to the Projects tab the update, project suspend, project update, no new tasks, allow new tasks selections don't work any more. I thought upgrading to a new version might help. It didn't. I haven't changed any of my settings so I have no idea what caused the selections to stop working. If I switch to the Tasks tab everything works fine. Any ideas?

I'd suggest 1.21 for the most stable version or 1.28 if you're a bit more adventurous.  Everything between was troublesome here, including the symptoms you describe.
Will do. Thanks

Beta Testing / Re: BT 1.25

I was just alerted by BoincTasks to upgrade to version 1.25. I upgraded as usual but this version will not work for me. When I try to start it I get nothing but an empty white screen. Tried uninstall and reinstall, same problem. Reinstalled version 1.16 and it works fine.
Win XP Pro SP3. Boinc version 6:10:58  32bit.
