Wish List / Re: File Tab - add start and stop TThrottle?

Does this actually stop TT on the remote (which is what I want to do) or does it simply not display TT info in BT?

Hi Fred - have you had any more thoughts about this suggestion?

It would help to stop TT on the remote hosts when its not needed during the cold weather and then to start TT again when it warms up, without having to physically go to the remote hosts.

Thanks ski1939

@ hucker

You obviously have some value for this information.

I fail to find any use for it to manage BOINC hosts and would ask what value it has for you - how would you use it?

Surely the question could be asked of the project server at the same time as the project is updating.  It already receives the number of points you have, all it needs is one more number.

I'm not aware of BT connecting with the BOINC project servers, only with the local and remote host's BOINC agents and TThrottle.

I mean the position you are in for each project.   There's an example of a monitor at the top of my websites, for example I am in position 597 in Moo.

I can't see it as much overhead, and opting in would be fine.  Just a column you could add which would invoke the lookup.

Thanks for your explanation, I now understand what project rank is, however it is of no value to me in using BT to manage the several remote computers I have running BONIC.

Note to Fred - if you implement this suggestion, please require an opt in for it, so those of us who don't want it can avoid the added overhead in internet connections and the additional code (this may required the opt in be done at the time BT is being installed). thanks ski1939

What do you mean by project ranking? I am still opposed to this suggestion unless it would be a option that you have to opt into (not opt out of) because of the additional overhead and especially if BT has to connect to some BOINC stats site.

So a feature I think would be good is to have a column in the projects area that shows your project ranking by account.  And then maybe show the number of over take days next to it.

These are things that boincstats can show you easily, I just don't know how easy it would be for you to get that information to display it.. (might not be possible at all..)

Good stuff man.. Thanks.
Hmm, should be possible, but there are so many stat sites out there.
Anybody else who has an opinion about this.

As you say there are so many stat sites already, I use BoincTasks to easily manage my projects and tasks on several remote computers, adding historical stats to the overhead of BoincTasks would be of little or no value to me.

Wish List / File Tab - add start and stop TThrottle?
November 19, 2010, 03:38:04 AM
Hi Fred - would it be possible to add a "Start TThrottle" and a "Stop TThrottle" command to the BT File Tab, which would execute on the selected/highlighted computer (either the local host or especially a remote)?

Hi Fred, using BT 0.87 and TT 3.00, the temperature graph now displays properly for my computer without a GPU - thanks.

Are these referring to a 64 bit system?
Yes, but I don't think the exe are 64 bit.

Do you mean that BT 0.84 and TT 3.00 32 bit exe are running on a 64 bit system and BT is displaying the temperature graph OK?

I am running them on a 32 bit system and BT does not display properly, there was no change in the BT 0.84 temperature display from TT 2.30 to TT 3.00 and my comments on TT 2.30 apply to TT 3.00 as well.

This works for me both tasks' CPU usage are throttled and the GPU is ignored.

Looks good to me, one task is using the GPU as well, but the throttle only activates when the temperature get too high.

Are these referring to a 64 bit system?

I've got BT 0.84 and TT 2.30 installed (not sure if this should be posted here or in a BT Forum thread)

bt show -> temperature graph opens the new BT TG window ok

but there is no vertical scale (no numbers up&down) and no horizontal grid lines (right&left)
the vertical grid lines (up&down) are  displayed ok and the horizontal scale (numbers right&left) are displayed ok and change from 1 minute to 24 hours ok

there are 2 horizontal solid red straight lines displayed a little above the middle of the graph
not sure what the 2 slides at the very top of the display are supposed to do, but moving them had no effect

also even with the horizontal scale set to 1 minute never got a temperature line/graph displayed
checking and unchecking the cpu% or gpu% boxes had no effect

in TT the enable BT box is checked and the BT Tasks Tab displays the temperature values ok
and the BT Computers Tab displays TT 2.30 ok
