FAQ / Temperature Window is missing
March 04, 2014, 10:13:44 PM
1) Go to the Preference tab and make sure "Show temperature window" is checked.
2) If it's checked remove the check and check it again, make sure the check is set.

If that doesn't work:

A) Exit TThrottle
B) Start Regedit (Search regedit)
C) Go here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\TThrottle\floatingdlg
Or here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\TThrottle64 when you have a 64 bit system.

Remove the whole folder floatingdlg.

Start TThrottle again.

FAQ / Administrator access only.
February 02, 2014, 01:59:09 AM
Kill the TThrottle.exe running with Tasks Manager.

Next click on the Throttle program with you right mouse key.
This should give you the option "Run as Administrator".

That's not exactly the same as running as administrator.

Go to Preferences and remove the check "Allow TThrottle to be opened as administrator only".

Exit TTrottle and start it again.

A tool to fix this problem: http://www.efmer.com/download/boinc/AddToGroup.zip

It will grant you access to the boinc folder where the password file is located.

Unzip the program.

Run the program as administrator (right mouse).
In the left bottom type in your user name and press "add user"

Restart BoincTasks.

FAQ / Dynamic IP addresses
September 21, 2013, 10:50:24 AM
As of Version 1.54 BoincTasks allows dynamic IP addresses.

The local net is scanned for all available computers, with the right MAC address. If a match is found a connection will be made.
The logging shows the IP address that is in use.

To set this up go to the computers tab and fill in:

V 1.57 and up.

If there is a valid MAC address the MAC address will be used.
The IP address, if any is supplied, will be disregarded.

MAC address syntax: xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx or xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Two MAC addresses / computer may be supplied e.g. wired/WiFi, separated by a ; or a , : xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx;xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx

Find the MAC address using "Find Computers". Or use Windows, find MAC address
Pressing "Add computers" will fill in the MAC address for existing computers.
Use the right mouse key to copy the MAC address.

Quote
Older version:

IP Address: use_mac
MAC Address: the computer mac address.

Don't forget to read this: Automatically add computers

The idea, extend the use of BoincTasks to a mobile device, like a tablet.

Option 1: Mobile:
You are using it locally and can access a computer running BoincTasks on your local network. (browser access).

Pro:
Is't fast, because you are in direct contact with BoincTasks.
You can access  most used features, like suspending, resuming tasks or a project, view graph.

Cons:
Is not always possible to use because of firewall restrictions.
You need to run BoincTasks on one of your machines.

Option 2: Cloud:
Your are using it from anywhere.

Pro:
It works on most devices (IPad, Android, Windows 8, laptop, desktop, Windows, Mac).
You can access  most used features, like suspending, resuming tasks or a project, view graph.

Cons:
Its a bit slower because it uses a cloud based routing system.
You need to run BoincTasks on one of your machines.

Option 3: WWW:
You can integrate your tasks page into your webpage.

Pro:
It works on any device with Internet access.

Cons:
Limited to viewing the tasks.
No control options, viewing only.
You need to copy information with an FTP program.
