Regarding:
Quote(Fixed) Some projects with low CPU use the CPU% was not correct. (FreeHAL, v0.46 PrimeGrid's AP26 Search (cuda23) v1.01)

I can confirm that with Primegrid's AP26 Search (cuda23) v1.01, BT 0.47 does indeed show CPU % during the run in the range 0.05x~0.07x% ;D  There is still no () CPU time in the ET field.  But that's understandable since you appear to be set up to display time as xxd,HH:MM:SS, and not fractions of a second.  This is also consistent with BOINCManager, which doesn't display fractional CPU time either.  They probably never thought it would be necessary.

Once again Fred, thanks for the attention to detail (and while on vacation to boot)8)
Great, because it's a bet harder for me to test.
I could add some digits, but that would make everything less readable.
But if there is a request I could make that optional.

V 0.47

(Changed) Use another way to get the user folder, like: "c:\users\xx\appdata\roaming".
(Changed) The non combined mode is now no longer selectable. Read FAQ for more info.
(Fixed) The follow selected tasks will now follow the task and the computer name, instead of only the task name. This prevents selected filtered tasks from switching computer
(Fixed) Task view: Sometimes when there are filtered tasks of the same application and the same tasks number. Selection will switch from one to another. Like from 23 suspended to 23 waiting to run.
Now uses one Task inside the filter to check if it's still the right filtered group.
(Fixed) Some projects with low CPU use the CPU% was not correct. (FreeHAL, v0.46 PrimeGrid's AP26 Search (cuda23) v1.01)

where does this save its settings? i want to completly remove it and reinstall it then try what u told me.
because nothing seems to be happening, i tried on my other computer and the first time you install it work for the installed computer. then when you go to add another computer it stop working.

i tried unstalling it useing windows add or remove, but my settings were all still there. i'm useing windows vista 64 bit.
and another problem was, see how the xml file it was trying to access was on the drive c, i have two operating systems on this computer windows xp and windows vista. the local drive for xp is c, but the local drive for vista is G:\. i installed bonic task on my vista os, the local drive for the boinc tasks should be G:\ just to let you know. but i do have access to both drives no matter what OS i'm useing.
Remove: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eFMer So remove the eFMer folder completely.
In the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\BoincTasks. So remove teh BoincTasks folder completely.

But maybe you should wait for the next 0.47 release scheduled for March 28. Hopefully this version will solve this problem.

I now use a different way to get the user folder, this should solve all these problems. (V 0.47)
And ... I added an extra check to make sure the folder is accessible, before using it.
This should now generate an error in the log if it is not accessible.

You can add an alternative existing folder in the extra->BoincTasks settings -> expert and check "override default (xml) folder"
This setting Must not contain space; If path has space, then it needs to be in 8.3 format. eg. Program files -> Progra~1

It doesn't work for me if it has space(s).
What OS?

i do get this msg.

"Unable to write to xml file, c:\documents and settings/manney/Aplication data/eFMer/BoincTasks/computers.xmlLook in help->Show Log for more details."

Thanks

Hmm, for some reason that folder isn't there.
Can you tell me if there is a folder there?

Event ID is the same as I've posted here: http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=296.0
I made a note in the todo for some additional checking. But these things are hard to find when they are not consistent.

I know that you don't support unreleased BOINC versions but it was in 6.10.36 that has been removed (from prod) and I don't see the feature being remove in future versions.

Its under -> While processor usage is less than blank percent. (0 means no restriction)

Or if its not added, BoincTasks should not re-write everything on global_prefs_override.xml but rather read its elements and values then what ever is changed on the BoincTasks GUI will be applied then write the file. Thus, it will not removed any elements that are currently not present with BoincTasks.
I'm using the same version right now.
Is on the list, but it has to wait until I'm back at my "real" ;D computer.

Hi

i'm new here, i downloaded boinc task. and installed. after opening for the first time it worked for a few seconds for my local computer i.e the computer it was installed on. but then now i cant get anything to work.

when i go to find computers, i find all 3 of my computers but when i check the box to select the computer, it unchecks it self as soon as i check it. this is realy frustrating. someone please help me. :'( :'( :'(

Is it possiable that my norton is blocking the programme? also how do i find the port which my bonic client works on?

Thanks

Manney
If find doesn't set a check (v) that indicated it found BOINC or TThrottle you can't check the computer.
You did read this: http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=109.0
Don't set any port values unless you know exactly what you are doing. And set the same port on BOINC as well. The value is 31416
First try to get it to work on your local machine, that should always work. The firewall will be the most likely suspect.
What do you see when you start BoincTasks, at the title bar of the program, not connected? Password?

Make sure your computer ip address is localhost the port field is empty and the password field is empty.
Goto Help -> Show Log and check enable debug mode.
Exit BoincTasks and start BoincTasks again.

Look for this line Computer = localhost get local password:

Hi,

I just noticed that BoincTask64 had crashed when the computer automatically returned from sleep this morning. :o
Maybe this event information helps you track down the reason and possibly fix something in the code.

Doesn't tell much, looks like a memory error. When this happens repeatedly let me know.
Suspend and Sleep should be totally transparent to the program, it should just work.

For some reason the Temperature window has dissappeared, and I cant get it back.

Preference - >Show Temperature Window.

If that doesn't fix it, exit TThrottle.

Start regedit.exe
Delete the following registry key: floatingdlg.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\TThrottle64\floatingdlg
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\TThrottle\floatingdlg

Start TThrottle again.

I respectfully disagree.  I suspended a task in progress.  The boinc_task_state.xml reads as follows:

<active_task>
    <project_master_url>http://www.primegrid.com/</project_master_url>
    <result_name>ap26_21231867_21231877_128_1</result_name>
    <checkpoint_cpu_time>0.390002</checkpoint_cpu_time>
    <checkpoint_elapsed_time>375.264000</checkpoint_elapsed_time>
    <fraction_done>0.777778</fraction_done>
</active_task>

As I said in my original post, CPU time is small, but still nonzero.  Also, please remember that the client is reporting nonzero CPU time back to the project server on all these tasks.

Ok now I see what's the problem, I should be able to correct it.

Right.  The problem with the v1.01 AP26/cuda23 is that there is no () value in the ET field, and the CPU % field remains at zero (blank), even with the task completed (Ready to report).  It appears that CPU activity <1sec and/or <1% just is not registering, or is being rounded down to nada.

You're probably right about the CPU feeding data to the GPU only at the beginning and receiving from it at the very end.  AP26 is literally searching for an Arithmetic Progression of 26 prime numbers.  The dataset is probably long and narrow, and can be crunched by the GPU without a lot of back-and-forth.  This differs from (say) GPUGRID's ACEMD2 app, where they're playing with high-res 3D molecular models--the CPU load is a sustained 10~12% of ET for the entire run of the task, with a big spike at the beginning.

B/W
If there is no value between () than the cpu time is not reported back to the BOINC client.
I made a note to do some testing when I have a cuda 2.3 computer.
