After some system crashes the general throttle looks promising.
Made some rules:
if cpu temperature > 70 shutdown     [Does emergency shutdown of the system, as fast as possible]
if cpu temperature > 64 throttle        [Enables a full capture of running programs. They will all be throttled above this setting]
if cpu temperature > 68 email           [Send an email]
if cpu temperature < 50 email           [Send an email when the temperature goes low meaning no BOINC activity]
if gpu temperature < 60 email           [Same but for GPU]

My CPU (AMD Turion64 2.0GhZ dual-core) runs at over 80C on average, with BOINC and F@H running. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I've read about Turions being able to go up to 90-95C before shutting down. If you include a feature like this, please allow it to be tweaked/disabled.

It will be something you can enable if you wish, modified in all possible ways . But it's just something extra, if you don't need it don't use it.

You could still make the typo.
But when this is worked out a bit I want to make this one as expert and a easier one for default.

I should be fixed, and as you already have 1.60 it should say that you have the most current verion.

Tested on my x64 laptop, same result.

Ok, I updated the file but forgot to send it to the website.
I have quite an extensive checklist. One more item.
What happens is a file on the website is read, for the version number and program that goes with it.

For some reason, the TThrottle icon looks like this.

in previous versions I had a fix with the updater, on the way that 1.59 beta or 1.60 beta
were installed and I clicked the mouse in the icon and update, look for new version, and
I got, new version found 1.58

why not numbering the beta versions as e.g. 1.61.0...X and the definitive version as the
last number of the list while in the same version, in order not to have this tricky upgrade
(dowgrade if followed).

in that way some minor released could be done for cosmetic bugs, etc.

e.g. if the definitive version is 1.61.4 but there is a small correction before a newer version
could be 1.61.5 and up without making Fred crazy with all the stuff we ask.

Yes that is something. Keep the last number for beta only. So it is a good thing we have 1.60 now as a release.
1.61, 1.62 for beta an 1.70 for release.
A downgrade will not work (I hope) because the installer doesn't install older programs over newer. So that should not be a problem.
But I will change the update so that you don't get messages about older versions.

Gmail only allows 25 MB apparently, and that won't do for a ~550MB file. I'm going to email you a link to the file.

Got it, found the problem (a typo) and fixed it in the new release 1.60 that is now on-line.

Can you send me a copy of C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects ?  (Vista location).
So I can do a real time check what is causing this crash.

I know it's a lot, but I just don't feel like trimming any of them down. Plus, some computers I run BOINC on can't handle large projects, like aqua/cpdn/qmc that I would still like to run anyway.

How do you want me to send this to you? Do you want me to put it all in a large ZIP file? How will I transfer it to you>

Tried, no change.

Is the BOINC tab visible? And if so what projects do you see.
Set the CPU and GPU  temp to 100C. Wait for the Use CPU and GPU go to 100%.
Then select active.

EDIT: Now the program crashes every time I try to set Auto-Active, even though there's a value set for Core Temp.

Try removing the folding at home programs from the program list in the first program tab.

Ok start regedit (start->Run and type regedit ENTER) and if the program asks for  a password (in vista) login as the user that uses TThrottle.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->eFMer->TThrottle and please write down the settings.

Go to the installation directory of TThrottle and start Installdriver and choose remove.
Delete the entire directory of TThrottle and  start the installation again

I've already uninstalled it/reinstalled it previously (including deleting the directory after uninstallation) with no success. It's currently uninstalled.

Ok another thing is might be go to Configuration screen -> Programs and look for the installed program Microsoft visual C++ 2005 Redistributable.
That part is tricky because it may be used by other programs.
Remove (deinstall) Microsoft visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and install TThrottle again.
In the registry delete the complete TThrottle tree.

Lets see what that does.

I've never seen that happen with exit.
Will add another failsafe, to make sure there is plenty of time to stop the throttle.

I think that another email could be useful, "report email" in the logging tab,
that takes all the info in the log and send it to you (eFMer), with the same
presets for the smtp as the "freezzing email", in order to make easier for
testing, report of bugs, etc. purposes. 

I will, because this is very easy to add, I already have a working email program running, but.. when I have time..
