So how come Boinc itself is allowed on there?
It's older and published before the no longer allowed deadline.
Right.... so it's ok to have a program that breaks their rules so long as it was there before they changed them?  Google don't make sense.  Mind you, they have removed at least one that I know of when the rules changed.  Pipboy for Fallout 4.  It's an app that connects directly with your PC when you're playing a game, to allow a second screen on your phone, so presumably doing similar weird networking as your programs do.

What if you could add some non-intrusive adds on google play, in order to have some revenue, but still make the app free?
Ugh, no such thing as a non-intrusive ad.

That's not the problem I do have an Android and Apple account.
Android is very cheap.
It's because of the way the BOINC Client works ( as a Linux daemon ) , it's considered insecure and thus no longer allowed.
So how come Boinc itself is allowed on there?

Can you please add option to update, or just download, apk from the app itself, so I do not have to do remote control some android TV sticks?
Unfortunately that's not possible/allowed at the moment.
If you mean updating your program automatically, maybe you could get it onto Google Play?  That updates everything itself.  Dunno if they charge a fee though.  Boinc is on there, although not the latest Beta one that was required to make Rosetta function with https.

Beta Testing / Re: Which Android versions should work?
November 21, 2020, 06:54:12 AM
Update, got CPU-Z to work, the firewall had blocked it.

On phone 2 it's showing in CPU-Z as:
Android 4.4.2, API 19, kernel 3.4.67

In another thread you said "I found an Android 4.1.2 API 16 phone, the lowest I like to support."
So should my phone be able to install it?

Beta Testing / Which Android versions should work?
November 21, 2020, 06:39:11 AM
Forgive me, I don't understand Android version numbers, there seem to be two numbers, a friendly version and a kernel version?
Also my older phone (phone 2 below), can't make up its mind what version it is.

Phone 1 (works perfectly):
Not rooted
Android 7.0
Kernel 3.18.35
(those numbers are shown in both system and CPU-Z and in agreement)

Phone 2 (the weird one):
Rooted (Kingoroot)
Sold as, and reported in system as, Android 6.0 (although CPU-Z claimed 4.5 before I rooted it, after rooting CPU-Z refuses to start)
Kernel 3.4.67

Phone 1 runs Boinc for Boinctasks perfectly.
Phone 2 just says "App not installed" when I try to install the APK.  It gives no reasoning.

Questions / Re: Sort by Application isn't working well

Oh well, since it only does it once per version it's no big deal.  And I suppose it's reassuring to know it's on the lookout for dodgy programs.

Questions / Re: Sort by Application isn't working well

Working perfectly, thanks!

By the way, and not your problem really, AVG always detects Boinctasks setup, and the program itself as "suspicious" (presumably by the nature of what it does, communicating across the network) and is presumably what causes setup and then Boinctasks to produce an error message.  After AVG has scanned it thoroughly and found nothing, it seems to continue normally, and doesn't check again in the future.

Questions / Sort by Application isn't working well
November 05, 2020, 04:49:17 PM
Until I joined Primegrid, sorting in Boinctasks by the Application column worked ok.  But when I joined Primegrid, it didn't seem to put the applications together.  I noticed it seems to be sorting only by the first handful of characters, so in World Community Grid, "7.18 Smash Childhood Cancer" comes before "7.27 Africa Rainfall Project", but in Primegrid, several applications starting with "9.00" are all lumped together.

Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
Do a search for the line above. It may be system related.
Keep me informed if you get another crash.

That was on my best and perfectly reliable machine.  It's never produced any errors at all in the 2 years I've had it (from new).   It only screwed up trying to do the update.   And it seemed to be trying to install it about 3 times at once (not sure what caused that), which would explain the error.

Has 1.81 been released somewhere?  I have 1.80, and clicking on update says there isn't one.  Your website has 1.78 or 1.80 beta available, but no 1.81.
I was about to, but then my computer crashed with a boot failure, so I'm busy getting things working again.

Downloaded and installed, thanks.  But the setup program is a bit fragile.  I got a memory error twice, then it told me it had installed but hadn't done so (still said version 1.80), so I had to try it a few times.  Eventually it got there (one caused Boinctasks to crash).  The memory error is below, the crash log doesn't seem to exist, although since the dialog box telling me where to look disappeared after 5 seconds, I may have gone to the wrong place.

ShellExecuteEx failed; code 299.
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

Wish List / Re: Allow shutdown of remote clients
June 13, 2020, 11:33:52 AM
I can do it with access to the Boinc manager on the remote computer (i.e. being at that computer, or using a remote desktop to get to its boinc manager).  Are you saying that the boinc client doesn't have this function for the remote access?  If so I'll ask over there.

Cloud / Re: Cannot add "computer" column to cloud
June 13, 2020, 11:31:53 AM
It doesn't work with mine.  I can change the columns and every one is displayed except computer.  Let me know if there's a way I can show you.  If you can access my cloud I can set it up and give you a screenshot of what I see locally.
