<<But when this is worked out a bit I want to make this one as expert and a easier one for default.>>

I ask you to please add the ability to execute a program or bat file.

Thanks

I tested using 45/48/50 and cranked up stress64.

The emergency throttle functioned as speced.

I would like to have more options for each phase.
The ability to execute a file (with parameters) would add more flexability.

I have a .bat file to beep to call me to the computer when the problem starts:
start /min "C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\winamp.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\SpeedFan\Balloon.mp3"
timeout /T "6"
taskkill /IM "winamp.exe" /f

I have a .bat file to hibernate so I can wake up after a cool down period and see what is running that caused the problem.
powercfg -h on
%WINDIR%\system32\shutdown.exe /h

I think that alarms and flashing lights should be part of the final GUI.

This is looking good ... more to come.

Make optional ... everybody happy.  ;D
Ok for one of the next versions I will make a switch in the XML file.
Always: Default Icon.
Always: Percentage Icon
#36
Or Both as options!  More is BETTER!  ;D

The subject says it all.

I works fine now ... Win7 doesn't gag atall!

Way to go!
#39
No problem ... I will not install Win7 for real until it goes gold.

Thank You!
#40
Correction ... F8 will work, I just tried it again.

My bad, but not acceptable for an unattended number cruncher that may reboot after power outage.
#41
I have been unable to override driver signing.

The F8 process has been defeated in RC1.

ReadyDriverPlus and Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider programs do not work.

Group Policy Editor/Administrative Templates/System/Driver Installation/Code Signing for Device Drivers/Enabled/Ignore will not work.

CMD:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
will not work.

I copied the signed driver from VISTA to Win7 and it got the driver not loaded message in the log.

Do you know of any thing else I can try?

Thanks

Wish List / Re: Auto detect of High usage processes?
March 09, 2009, 04:21:40 PM
Actually I was only using the astropulse task as an example of a larger problem. I run BOINC in the background 24/7 and virus scans, disk defrags, internet explorer, and other tasks can push the temp accross the line even if boink programs are throttled back.
What I was asking for was a way to cut back on ANY high usage process if the temp got into the danger zone. This would be valuable for more than BOINC users.

Wish List / Auto detect of High usage processes?
March 06, 2009, 05:56:06 AM
There is a new SETI module [ astropulse_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe ] but TThrottle did not have it in the BOINC list.
Temps went wild because no action was taken. Would it be possible to throttle any process that has high usage if the temp goes into a "high risk" zone? This would be a last attempt before shutdown.
I have TThrottle set to start taking action at 55.
I have SpeedFan set to shut down (actually hibernate) at core temp 68.
TThrottle works fine for expected tasks but updates occur and process names change.
I believe the requested feature would be very valuable for many users.

Thanks

SpeedFan is an example of this. It makes it Much easier to see if I'm up to date.
#45
Sometimes I start a heavy use function and even though it is the list of processes to be monitored it has time to run the temp up because it is not yet in the thread list. Same when BOINC shifts from a low demand task to a high demand task.
Is there a runtime command or config file that can be used to set this?
