Beta Testing / Re: Testing V 7.15

I found the cause, forgot the add a max buffer length, for a string that is less than 5 bytes long.
It caused a buffer to be assigned for an undefined amount, but only for a millisecond or so.
I'm not sure if the memory is assigned and processed by the system.
Good catch!
Then I suppose the memory request was just approved, but no more memory blocks were written, as there was no demand for it.

Yesterday at evening, while looking for the reason, why did my computer require that much virtual memory, I've noticed that the top glutton was TThrottle - at some moment during previous 22 hours it required to allocate 2 GB  :o memory to fulfill some secret task:

Fred, could you please take the code under microscope, which part could be that greedy? I've no idea whether this amount was also filled with some data (and doubt it), as the Peak Working Set was only 150 MB.
If necessary for any debugging, the process is still running here, luckily inside its 30 MB of memory.

The Slovak BT 1.55 language file is in the upload area.

BTW, BT 1.55 installed with an updated 1.53 SK file. Never mind.

Great. Check if you have any problems logging off while BoicTasks is running.
I'll check this as well.
The log off took some half minute, BT exited as the last app, while still monitoring other remote machine, no one complained - apparently all was clean.

I linked in a library, that should be loaded dynamically, but not on XP.
You should probably check first, whether you can load it?

boinctasks64.exe - Entry Point Not Found

ShutdownBlockReasonCreate could not be located in USER32.dll.

I assume this can be expected on 32 bit WinXP as well?

Seems to work nicely with "use_mac" :) but not at all without it.

After a few minutes of use, I've realized that notebooks often get a connection over either a cable, or WiFi. What about a comma-separated list of MAC addresses? :P

Added: Computer tab MAC address column, this allows dynamic IP addresses to be used.  Use: use_mac for the IP Address and fill in the MAC address int the next column
:-\ too geeky and who would remember the magic word?
What about dropping this "use_mac" completely and use the MAC value, if the IP is empty?

Thanks for a quick hack.
I've used the Alt-Space-Move-Cursor-Mouse alternative.

  • 5) My Long Term History suddenly does not open  ??? I forgot what/where to check  :-[

5) Did you check Move to long term history after in the History setting?

5) The problem was, that the window was opening somewhere out of the display area - I've finally catched and revealed it it today with Alt-Space-Move-Cursorkeys-Mousecursor sequence ...
Today I've noticed that also the remaining windows get opened out of my visible desktop. All of them. I did use a dual-screen configuration in the past (thus if I'd swap their positions...) but not anymore for at least two years long.

4) Yes, the Time Stats block. But these two values are not (yet?) there. Maybe after a few days and start cycles of usage?

4) Only on supported BOINC versions 7.x.x
7.0.28? Or not yet? I see now that it is more than a year old previous release. Long time no betatest... Is the 7.2.x branch already usable? The most recent publicly available is 7.2.5, Alpha mentions 7.2.16 (to be retracted), Rom mentions development problems... Anything from 7.1.x? OK., let's try out the 7.2.5.

[update1] I've noticed that I've installed 7.0.64-x64 in July, but! into "Program Files (x86)"  :-X and continued to use 7.0.28-x64 in "Program Files"  :-[
[update2] I can now see the two times.
