Beta Testing / Re: BT 0.21.0
October 09, 2009, 11:30:50 AM
I have two computers defined, one of them has IP "localhost:31417". If (also) this one is selected and I press "Connect to selected computers", I get a popup:
BoincTasks
an unnamed file contains an invalid path.
OK
but just the first time since the application launch. On subsequent connects nothing similar happens. Does my port trigger something unexpectedly wrong? :D

It takes a lot couple of seconds (4-7) for BT to terminate since Exit is selected, even if no connection to computers is present. Why?

What about a ipaddress:portnumber notation for computer's IP Address? I could then attach BT to a remote machine and finally see the combined mode  8)

Hi Pepo,

I think I'll need some more information about you're saying, I like it.

long time I haven't see you when you post in BoincView forum.  ;)
I'm still missing BoincView and its forums. I hope Fred will be able to match it with good own products  ;D

Well, then we can cook some how-to for the remote client access.

could be possible in the future to run from e.g. laptop away home and accessing to home computers with BT??
I like to make things but there is an excellent program that allows you to access your computer remotely.
logmein and it's free, but there are others as well.
I believe Fred means a VPN application, previously developed under name hamachi. You can create a "virtual LAN" if you start this program on a couple of computers (e.g. those running your BOINC clients and your B.T. laptop on a ship) and these LAN nodes will be accessible under a new IP segment like e.g. 5.43.137.** (BTW, very convenient to play LAN games with non-local mates)

Another possibility is to create separate SSH tunnels from your B.T. laptop to BOINC clients and access the clients over these tunnels. The following B.T. version is promised to support this.

2. The scroll bar does not stay where you want it to in order to read earilier messages.  It keeps jumping back to the bottom of the panel.
...just learned from Fred and have the know-how :)

Just click any message line except the last one and the list will stay where you scroll it to.
When you de-select (CTRL-click) the selected line or select the bottom line, the list will be automatically scrolled again.

Done, but still deadline shown as dd/mm/yyyy h:mm ¿¿??  ???
in version 0.20.0 set in preferences and shown perfect. :)

I've just started with 0.20.0, but the additional question/wish remains the same: could please please all date/time values (like the numerical ones are) be right-aligned?

(BTW, I'd prefer a right-aligned dd.mm.YYYY hh:mm while keeping d.m.YYYY h:mm in my regional settings  :) (as I hate the mi-nu-sed or sl/as/hed notations), but everyone likes it somehow else  ;D so I can live with that - except that the Settings dialog would allow entering the string for anyone, just like it is in this forum.)
