Wish List / Re: BoincTasks thru Proxy
May 16, 2011, 10:40:47 AM
A very cool idea (I'd love to have it), but unfortunately it will most probably not work "out of the box" unless you have some kind of a gateway-machine.
When you need a proxy, you will also need to configure the firewall (for each PC you want to see from outside!) and even if you are allowed to do so, it's a lot of work.
So you'd need one PC on each side of the proxy collecting data from "their" BOINC devices and then communicating with each other...

TThrottle uses the BOINC port + 1.
So if BOINC is using 31416 TThrottle is using 31417.
Both ports should be redirected.
??? How??
i.   31417 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.002 port 31416 & to port 31417
ii.  31418 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.003 port 31416 & to port 31417
iii.  31419 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.002 port 31416 & to port 31417
iv.  31420 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.002 port 31416 & to port 31417

is it??

i.   31418 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.002 port 31416
ii.  31419 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.002 port 31417
iii.  31420 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.003 port 31416
iv.  31421 --> IP ABC.DEF.HIJ.003 port 31417

what I've seen about 5 times in x32 version and once in x64 version too is that BT quits without any explanation, message, etc. why?? I really don't know, because nothing seen.
I've seen an "out of memory" error before it closed... :(

BTW, if you check for a new version and this fails, the German version shows "visit www.efmer.eu/boinc/boinctasks" which gives a 404. The last part should read "boinc_tasks".

I only saw this 'cause connection via proxy is still on the "todo" list...

Very nice idea, but I'd suggest that "E" should be a question to the user (I have some which are running for 1-3 weeks and then they're off for some days). May be it would be somewhat confusing if they disappear "in-between".
Or did I misunderstand, if I give it a name, it will be on the "fixed" list of computers?

have there been changes in supported operating systems?
Check in C:\Program Files\eFMer\BoincTasks if you have the 32 bit version installed. (boinctasks.exe) without the 64 in the name.
The version is ok.

Quote(0.5.3)
Try if that one is working, than I know something more. That's the last one before I switched compiler.
This one ist working!
So no more W2K, yes? :(

Hello,

have there been changes in supported operating systems? I'm back to 0.50 (the version I downloaded before 0.55), because W2K tells me "...not a valid 32bit-application"!? Or do I have a damaged installer?
