Hi all,

on my pc Boinctasks cant start the client automatically, see the logfile below.
But after starting the Boincclient manually Boinctasks works fine.
I suggest that Boinctask find not the right file directory with the boinc.exe.
Perhaps missing some entries in the BT config file or BM cc_config.xml?
What means ... program boinc.exe --detach, Data directory: ....?

Run only 1 machine, no remote pc.

How can this issue fixed? Any suggestions?

Hi all,

on my pc Boinctasks cant start the client automatically, see the logfile below.
Startup relies on registry keys, so if you moved or renamed the BOINC folder this may the cause.

Exit BoincTasks next select run as Administrator with the right mouse key. Do not logout and login as Administrator.
See if BoincTasks is able to start the BOINC client.

Hi, Fred
exiting BoincTasks and running as Administrator with the right mouse key didn´t fix the issue.

The same message in BT logfile:

... 03 April 2016 - 17:29:25 Start BOINC client ---- Unable to start: Invalid directories: Program: boinc.exe --detach, Data directory:
03 April 2016 - 17:32:39 BoincTasks is closing down all threads, this may take a couple of minutes...

Boincmanager shows this messages:

Only if I start BM, the Boincclient starts and BT works fine.
How can Boinc client start only with BT? The boincmanager isn´t need to start the Boinc client?
I have different account name and different host name, see in BM logfile.
Is that the issue?

Thanks for your suggestions.

fred

The problem is in the registry key, something went wrong while installing the BOINC client.

This is the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup

Read:
INSTALLDIR
DATADIR

BoincTasks seems to be unable to read both.

No problem to let the Boincmanager start the BOINC client, works just as good.

Or you can make a batch file and add:

C:\ProgramData\BOINC boinc.exe --detach

Alfgo

Thanks fred,

in the registry there is not such a
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup,
but under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Bercley
are the files of BONIC Manager and BOINC Screensaver. I can´t find the entries for BOINC Setup.

So I let start BT first, then BM manually, which BM starts the BOINC client - this works.
But have to run both BM and BT, that´s not efficient.

What about reinstalling the BM with the client?

Make sure to check "for all users" that probably is what is causing the problem.
