BoincTask fails at installation - too many crahses

Hello,

I've searched the forums but didn't find references to my problem.

BoincTasks has worked previously on my PC, Window XP, SP3. I've done the following to reinstall the program.

Removed the program via the Windows
'remove program' option.

deleted the BoincTask folder on the PC.

Edited the registry remove the boincTask settings.

Rebooted the PC.

Installed BoincTask per the manual.

BoincTask starts, asks me what OS I'm running.

Select Windows.

After a long run BoincTask terminates with a 'too many crashes' error message.

Suggestions?

Try V 1.20 http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/boinc_tasks/download_beta.html and let me know if this fixed the problem.

Using the beta version solved the "crash" problem. All three networked computers were found. However only the local host returns status. The two remote computers are in "password" status. Here's what I did attempting to enter the password.

1. The gui_rpc_auth.cfg file for each remote machine contains one line, the password.   12345678910.

2. I double clicked on password field of the computer tab in BoincTasks typing "12345678910" in the field then pressing the 'Enter' key.

3. I exited BoincTasks and restarted.

4. I reran the 'find computers' task in BoincTasks.

5. Both of the remote computers still show "password" in the status field.

Am I following the correct procedure?

On the local machine go to C:\ProgramData\BOINC and change the password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg, make it the same as the remote machines. (easier testing).
Restart the computer.

Try the Find computer and fill in the correct password.
Press Scan address range.

The BOINC field should give Yes, connected on all computers.

If not:

Look in the Log of the BOINC Client (in the BOINC Manager Ctrl Shift E).
In the log check for the remote computers if the IP address is allowed.
In the log check for a line like refused or any other error.
If you use a name as IP address, this may cause problems on some computers.

I was NOT updating the .cfg files in the proper directory.
