Hello,

I'm struggling to get BoincTasks running on a mixed XP and Windows & network. When I run find all computers every computer on the network is located. However the check box for one XP machine, ED_5, is grayed out and can not be activated for an Add.

Where to start would be appreciated. I'm guessing it's some kind of permission conflict rather than an XP issue. What's the grayed box telling me?

Thanks

Ed

Nothing XP related.
Means, no BOINC client detected.
The BOINC column should show Yes,
Even better to run TThrottle on the to machine to be found. It makes detecting easier.
But you can add the computer manually.
Computers tab, Computer->Add Computer
Change the blank IP address to the IP of the computer and give it a name. Fill in the right password and press the Tasks tab.

Fred,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Turns out it was an XP permission problem. I'd enabled Simple File Sharing that denied access to the proper folder BoincTasks was looking for.
