Title: Testing V 1.61x

http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_0.zip (http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_0.zip)
Safe all your work before using this version.

In the tab general throttle, (name doesn't fit anymore, suggestions)

The rules go into the rules line (Top) and become active when you press Add.
Warning they become active at once....
The check Enable General Throttle does.... NOTHING.
The exclude does... NOTHING.

Does a emergency shutdown so be careful it shuts down quickly without saving anything.
if cpu temperature > 70 shutdown

This engages the full general throttle at this temperature all processed are throttled
if cpu temperature > 64 throttle
The set temperature is still the temperature that will be regulated. But when the General Throttle engages all programs will be throttled.

if cpu temperature > 68 email
This sends an email.

Fixed problems:
The throttle did not go low enough but to 25% instead of 5%.
The threads lost is gone, instead the rebuild time is 1/2 when threads are lost. But these frequent warnings are gone.

Added:
The update version check is now done in a better way.

I tested using 45/48/50 and cranked up stress64.

The emergency throttle functioned as speced.

I would like to have more options for each phase.
The ability to execute a file (with parameters) would add more flexability.

I have a .bat file to beep to call me to the computer when the problem starts:
start /min "C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\winamp.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\SpeedFan\Balloon.mp3"
timeout /T "6"
taskkill /IM "winamp.exe" /f

I have a .bat file to hibernate so I can wake up after a cool down period and see what is running that caused the problem.
powercfg -h on
%WINDIR%\system32\shutdown.exe /h

I think that alarms and flashing lights should be part of the final GUI.

This is looking good ... more to come.

Hi all,

I'm testing in my laptop (xp pro x32) with 80/68/72, now it looks like that the throttling is much more efective.

I'll try when I'll come back home to do the same switches but lower values for the desktops.

why not "General Throttling" ---> Throttle Specs

the 2nd (tm) now is correct, and not any more strange symbols. :D

happy w-end, Corsair. ;)

Hi All,

I'm testing now in my desktops (xp pro x64) and by a typing error
I've seen that is working pretty well.  ;D

I think that with the options that you give in the "wish List" is enough
and no much more could be added in the way of Trottling, so could be
fine an arrangement like this:

[Thick box] text [integer box] action

e.g.
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] shutdown
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] throttle
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] email
[Thick box] if cpu temperature below [integer box] email
[Thick box] if gpu temperature below [integer box] email

It could be esair and not needed the big windows, on that way the user
could not made errors on typing or copying.

Cheers, Corsair.

You could still make the typo.
But when this is worked out a bit I want to make this one as expert and a easier one for default.

I ask you to please add the ability to execute a program or bat file.

Thanks

http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_1.zip (http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_1.zip)
A new one. 1.6.1.1. A 32 and 64 bit version. 3 files + 1 wav.
I updated the email client radically to include encryption. So it should work now with Gmail.com etc.

The rules have expended throttle email shutdown execute1 execute2 execute3 sound

if cpu temperature > 70 sound reset 60    [plays alarm.wav from the exe directory at 70 degrees, it resets a 60. Meaning the sound will activate above 70 and will only sound again if the temperature drops below 60 and goes up again above 70.
Reset is valid with all commands except throttle and shutdown ;D.

the command execute1 2 3 try to execute a bat file in the same location as the exe called execute1.bat  2 3
if cpu temperature > 74 execute1 reset 50 may bring your computer in sleep mode. (if the bat file tels it to...)

The Mail now includes a check TLS (default on). This is the recommended secure way to send E-Mails.
A log file is written to:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\eFMer\TThrottle\maillog.txt
Vista: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\TThrottle\maillog.txt

Nice to look at the log to see what is going on. And I'm interested in the log. Warning: do not include it on this board, as some email servers send the password back as acknowledge, for everyone to see ???.

I will probably remove the exclude programs....

Need to rename the tab to ... rules ??

Use port 25. It works fine with me.

why not include in the beggining of the log the settings of general Throttle tab??

in case that the log has to be sent, there would be more information available for debug.

A last version I hope before translation and a new beta version.
http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_2.zip (http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_2.zip)

New in this version a rule add sequence, to make it easier to add rules.
An extra rule reboot. I use this on an unattended system to reboot when the GPU becomes idle. This happens when BOINC (CUDA) crashes.... and will automatically restart the system.
e.g. :
if GPU temperature < 60 reboot reset 70
if GPU temperature < 62 email

Added some colors to the list Red for active, Blue for: can become active and Black waiting for reset of the rule.
Renamed the tab general throttle to rules ;D

programs, BOINC, Temperatures, and graphic work.
Rules Listbox error fixed. just an observation ... no reset option in rule add sequence.
emergency throttle works
Preference works ... email test works.
logging history missing shows only the last info
Threads info 0 or blank
Expert seems to work (the parts I use anyway)
I removed your email info (It is your password and username) I looks encrypted but is is not.
I did not add everything in the "rule maker", only the basic stuff. The rest can be done directly. Reset and so is more dangerous.... ;D
Threads is blank because you are out of CUDA work, as the rest of us if there is no new work.

Hi Fred,

as far as I see it looks like that everything is working fine.

for the CUDA I can not say anything as I've no NVIDIA wich supports
CUDA computing as my two NVIDIA cards are little "old" 2 years and
not support CUDA processing.

I have just arrive and found in the laptop (x86) the infamous window with
".... TThrottle must close because ....." and the subsequent reporting to
Microsoft but I've seen that Tthrottle has not been closed (UFFF!!!) my
laptop could burn.

Ready for translation  ;D

Cheers, Corsair.

Yes, probably a better name.. It's sometimes hard to find the right name.
Works on one computer with a hungry graphic card, it pushes up the temperature by 10C. So that's a good indication that it works.  ;D

Hi all,

name exchange for CUDA Tab, I agree and think it's much better.

the option of language in the Preferences tab is really good idea,
and much better that every language appears in its own name.
but there is not a "Apply" button for inmediate exchange of the
program language (could be nice instead of restarting the program)

at the moment all the alarms in the "Rules" Tab works really well.

the only thing I've seen in previous version 1.6.1.3 is when started
from a shortcut that has blank the "start from:" is that the
Tthrottle.xml is not read. and checked in this version too.

see the log, run as startup and with a shortcut, no .xml read:

not too often in the stable version (of course it use to be in my mother tongue),
but in this last RC, yes, on the way to know what is the real "english" term that
could give a fix, reference, etc. sometimes as there is no proper direct Spanish

after installing the RC, I tried the Mail Program. C++ give an error and exit it. You have an EMail about it.
Kind regards, Christoph
Try sending me the email log. C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\TThrottle\maillog.txt
Did you remove the previous version before installing.
There is no log file. There is even no eFMer Folder in that place. Nor is it on D: In the very first version of the prog I got authentification error. The actual Version is since that the only one which I tried. Sorry. Can it be a problem to have the C++ 2005 & 2008 version parallel installed? Yesterday my system hang up completely a couple of times. I guess my installation is slowly but sure going south. As soon as I found my VISTA installation DVD I will kill it. Should solve couple of problems which I have.

The program never came that far.. it crashed before it was at the point of writing a log file.
It may be the Visual Studio installation.
I wait to see if I get a second report of a crash of the mail program.

Well, I found my installation DVD. I got another crash nearly two hours ago just when I was typing an E-Mail and tried to upload an attachemend. Guess my machine don't like skripts of any kind in the moment. All crashes occured when I was working with programs / websites which are either known or suspected to work with skripts.
So, I will do some bakup stuff and get the installation goind. *sigh* I hate that.

Sorry, I already have uninstalled the RC; have gone back to 1.60.

The bad thing is, even 1.60 doesn't see the graphic-card now :-(

At the moment I'm uninstalling 1.60 again, uninstalling VC++ manual in System-management and rebooting the machine to make a fresh install of 1.60 ...

Will the logfile of 1.60 b helpful or would I have to go to RC first ?

Strange indeed, as I didn't change the interface. Check out 186.18 the latest drivers.
Does BOINC detect the card?

as far as I see this last version is working fine and everything looks like well translated.

sigh  :'( as usual I have done on the wrong way, uninstalled the RC1 and seen that everything was the same, I carefully installed in the laptop and see the differences in my all x64 version computers I have installed again the RC1 instead the RC2, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I´ll fix it right now.

as I told you the version x86 is working fine in the laptop.

nice beers (& wine) for everybody in this weekend (and upcoming too), Carmelo.  ;D ;D ;D ;)

I just tried to instal the latest CATALYST control center. The installer crashed. And I'm not the first one. Microsoft knowledge base gives this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961894 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961894)
That should explain my problems with the TThrottle Mail.
