BT v1.27 still won't start my main boinc client. After start (or before) start of v1.27 I have to start BoincManager to start the main boinc client. After enabling 'stop boinc client on exit' BT exits normally but it doesn't seem to stop the main boinc client.

Starting the boinc client wasn't a problem in BT v1.09

Nothing has chanced since then.
I like to see the log.
What's the user privilege administrator or user.
Check the access in folder C:\Program Files\BOINC properties->3th tab.
The same for: C:\ProgramData\BOINC

I just rebooted my system and v1.27 did start my main client. But now I have firewall problems, I can't access the internet when the settings are set to normal, so now I have to turn on 'allow all network traffic'. Maybe the problem are somewhat connected, I don't know. Internet connection failed on me numerous times with the program I got from my internetprovider (Telfort). They couldn't solve the problem (the came with a lame answer) so I contacted F-Secure yesterday (where the program originnaly came from) and gave me instructions to send a file (generated by a help program) to them. I didn't need to yesterday, cause internet worked, but now that it doesn't I ran their help program and mailed them the output.

I'll exit v1.27, stop the boinc client, start BT and see if the boinc client will start up too.

Nope, I was wrong. BT didn't start the main boinc client  :(.
I'm administrator on my system, always have been as I'm single so no one else uses my computer.

Do you want me to set the connect value in the log.xml again?

Access in folder C:\ProgramData\BOINC : same as above

Did you check the computer: Windows-7-PC , localhost in the computers tab?
So you didn't check the start BOINC client? Because BoincTasks isn't trying to start the client.

Yes I did check the Windows-7-PC localhost in the computers tav. It said not connected.
The 'Start boinc client' option is on (I've never turned it off).

I don't see: 15 november 2011 - 19:25:57 Start BOINC client ---- The BOINC client started OK
That's in the main log.
Did you by any change move or rename the BOINC folder?

Mellowman

#7
No, the main installing folder is exactly the same as when I first installed Boinc, C:\Program Files\BOINC
And the project folders are also where they have to be: C:\ProgramData\BOINC
I only created the extra boinc folder for my second GPU: C:\ProgramData\BOINC2

BTW, when I wanted to deselect 'start BT at login' the program hung, and BT won't startup at login while the option is on.
Also when internet explorer is not running and I select Boinctasks manual or Boinctasks forum from the help menu then it won't go there. Internet explorer has to be running for that to work.

I found the problem with BT not starting at login. The registry entry 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run' showed' EFMER_BoincTasks' with an empty data value.

Nevertheless when I want to deselect 'start BT at login' the program hangs.

You need to start BoincTasks as Administrator even if you have the same rights as user.
Right mouse, run as administrator.

Mellowman

Really, so how does that work when it automatically starts at login????::)

I have re-installed Windows 7 and BT starts my main boinc client  :D. I've also noticed that BoincManager can stop my second boinc client (if it's run from the batch file; don't know if it can do it with a direct shortcut like I used before instead of the batch file).

A new problem has come. Before and after the re-install of windows, I noticed that when I press some keys on the remote control (Rec TV; Guide; Live TV) BT's main window opens  ??? and it's very annoying when I'm busy with Media Center  ::).

The only way BT can open is if you set a hot key.
Extra->BoincTasks settings -> Hotkey. If it shows geen or none it's ok.
The remote control used keyboard combinations.

Mellowman

It shows none, but the BT window will open when I press one of those three buttons.

Not BoincTasks that is doing this.
