Beta Testing / Re: Testing V 1.61x
June 15, 2009, 02:31:26 PM
Hi all,

why not include in the beggining of the log the settings of general Throttle tab??

in case that the log has to be sent, there would be more information available for debug.

http://www.efmer.eu/download/boinc/test/TThrottle_test_1_6_1_1.zip
A new one. 1.6.1.1. A 32 and 64 bit version. 3 files + 1 wav.
I updated the email client radically to include encryption. So it should work now with Gmail.com etc.

The Mail now includes a check TLS (default on). This is the recommended secure way to send E-Mails.
A log file is written to:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\eFMer\TThrottle\maillog.txt
Vista: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\TThrottle\maillog.txt

Hi Fred,

after setting the mail for gmail, I got one window with the text: TLS not supported by the POP3 server.

and this is the content of the log (because nothing is private in this log:
smtp.gmail.com = 74.125.79.111
Mininum response
No TLS available.
QUIT

TLS not supported by the POP3 server.

Beta Testing / Re: Testing V 1.610

Hi All,

I'm testing now in my desktops (xp pro x64) and by a typing error
I've seen that is working pretty well.  ;D

I think that with the options that you give in the "wish List" is enough
and no much more could be added in the way of Trottling, so could be
fine an arrangement like this:

[Thick box] text [integer box] action

e.g.
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] shutdown
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] throttle
[Thick box] if cpu temperature above [integer box] email
[Thick box] if cpu temperature below [integer box] email
[Thick box] if gpu temperature below [integer box] email

It could be esair and not needed the big windows, on that way the user
could not made errors on typing or copying.

Cheers, Corsair.

Hi all,

I'm testing in my laptop (xp pro x32) with 80/68/72, now it looks like that the throttling is much more efective.

I'll try when I'll come back home to do the same switches but lower values for the desktops.

why not "General Throttling" ---> Throttle Specs

the 2nd (tm) now is correct, and not any more strange symbols. :D

happy w-end, Corsair. ;)

so, is it now updated in the website, for download? ???  :D
I should be fixed, and as you already have 1.60 it should say that you have the most current verion.

I've downloaded again and setup, erasing 1st the TThrottle directory, and now shows the correct version.

Cheers.

Ok, I updated the file but forgot to send it to the website.
I have quite an extensive checklist.;D One more item.
What happens is a file on the website is read, for the version number and program that goes with it.

so, is it now updated in the website, for download? ???  :D

Hi all,

untill AMD/ATI GPU is not supported why not to place a thick
box to show the old icon, instead the meter that doesn't show
too much when non NVIDIA GPU.

Questions / Update in x64 version
June 09, 2009, 07:56:48 PM
Hi all,

I've setup the last version 1.60 time stamp 09.06.2009 08:53.

when right click in the icon and update:

x86 version, correct, you have the newest version.
tested in my laptop with xp pro x86.

x64 version, incorrect, it shows me that new version available 1.58. ???
tested in all my xp pro x64 machines (3) with same result.

previous to setup the program in all computers I've deleted completely
the TThrottle directory.

Cheers, Corsair. :'(

Beta testing problems / Version numbers
June 09, 2009, 10:32:15 AM
Hi all,

in previous versions I had a fix with the updater, on the way that 1.59 beta or 1.60 beta
were installed and I clicked the mouse in the icon and update, look for new version, and
I got, new version found 1.58 ???

why not numbering the beta versions as e.g. 1.61.0...X and the definitive version as the
last number of the list while in the same version, in order not to have this tricky upgrade
(dowgrade if followed).

in that way some minor released could be done for cosmetic bugs, etc.

e.g. if the definitive version is 1.61.4 but there is a small correction before a newer version
could be 1.61.5 and up without making Fred crazy with all the stuff we ask.

Cheers  ;)

Hi all,

I've seen in the last two beta versions used, that you sent me for testing last
morning, something strange  ??? ???

Running TThrottle beta and BOINC (client version 6.6.31 for windows_intelx86),
I could check it on the laptop only (WXP SP3 x86).

right click on TThrottle icon and exit, now I see in the Process Explorer 11.33
that the BOINC remains throttled with no work load, but the programs in memory,
when supposed that should be working at full load after ending the throtling. :'(

in order to make working againg I have to "Kill Process Tree" of boincmgr.exe in
PE 11.33 and run again the BOINC Manager and after TThrottle beta.

cheers all, Corsair.

Wish List / E-mail various
June 03, 2009, 12:13:20 PM
Hi all,

I've seen that in the wish list is:

Send an E-Mail when a BOINC program freezes. ;)

could be in the preferences tab.

I think that another email could be useful, "report email" in the logging tab,
that takes all the info in the log and send it to you (eFMer), with the same
presets for the smtp as the "freezzing email", in order to make easier for
testing, report of bugs, etc. purposes.  ???

Cheers, Corsair

P.D.: I think we're asking to much from your patient.
#598
Of course I'll be happy, because as you said two see more than one, and something could be missing or nor properly translated.  ;)

in the last ammend I sent you the translation is more Spanish than the first one that it was too (not so much colloquial) technical.

Cheer all.

Questions / Re: ATI GPU status not shown
May 22, 2009, 02:35:36 PM
Hi Fred,

as you said and I've check about CUDA is only for NVIDIA GPU, but as
"Whish List" could be fine to have at least the status/Temperature of
ATI GPUs, just for info, with no Throttle as there is no way of Throttling
it, because there is no BOINC software designed at this moment.  :'(

Cheears all, Corsair.

P.D. English is not my mother tongue, but for my job I've to work everyday,
everytime in English, as I'm a mariner and as captain of Tankers (Oil, Gas,
Chemicals) this of Throttling a valve (word, action) is the most frequent in
Loading and unloading a vessel, the point is that I never care about the
traslation to Spanish, becuase I've always been with non Spanish crews and
I know the meaning (in English) and the effects, and some days ago I look for
in the dictionary for the proper translation of such word, when I saw that I nearly
cried "regular (verb), regulador (name)", that's life when we mix our native
language with others that we use to use frequently, something like Spanglish.  ;)
