Questions / BoincTasks in Linux Mint
« on: April 02, 2014, 02:44:38 am »
I installed into Linux Mint OK.  In trying to move the columns under Tasks the column headings move, but the column stays put.
Is this an oops or do I have to set an option in the program?

Thanks

Linux and Mac / BoincTasks on Linux Mint 16 DE: Cinnanon
« on: March 30, 2014, 04:45:36 pm »
I'm new to Linux, but I'm trying to install BoincTasks.  I have installed Boinc Manager successfully.
I have installed Wine.  The install of BoincTasks seem to start, I get two query windows, then it just goes away.
No evidence of the Program having been installed.

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

Thanks

EDIT: I had to reinstall LinuxMint and in the new install BoincTasks installed.
Go figure.

Wish List / Moving WU to different computers
« on: July 09, 2013, 11:37:02 pm »
I know this belongs in the Wish List.  I just hope it doesn't belong in the drop dead list.

Today I had a computer running some Yoyo WUs when I noticed WCG downloading a Beta WU.  I put the active Yoyo WUs into Suspense mode to allow the WCG Beta WUs to start downloading/running.

Since I am new to Beta testing, I don't know how long the Beta test will go on.  However, an idea came to me.  What if I could relocate a WU from one computer to another.  Assume the Beta testing lasts for a week.  The deadline will undoubtedly expire on the Suspended Yoyo WUs.  Since all my computers are networked together and BoincTasks is managing all the computers BOINC work, is it possible to move suspended WUs from one computer to another?  That would elevate the deadline issue completely.

Questions / [Resolved] Disk space query
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:12:29 pm »

What do I need to modify to provide this needed disk space.  I've never seen this kind of message before.
The BOINC parameters are at the default settings as for as I know.

Thanks

I've noticed under the History tab some WUs with the Status of Missed.
What does this mean and what can I do about it?

Questions / 317 days left?
« on: May 22, 2013, 10:48:05 pm »
Look at the bottom of the image.  PrimeGrid WUs...Time Left column... 317 days left.  Deadline 6/5/2013.
Is this a new math?  Time travel?  I'm confused!
Sorry if I put this in the wrong folder...

Wish List / Report all completed tasks
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:22:06 am »
Is there an option in BoincTasks to direct the Projects > Report all completed tasks to automatically report when the accumulated  completed WU count reaches a designated number?

Thanks,
Gandalf

Wish List / [Resolved] BoincTasks I/O Read/Write Bytes
« on: May 11, 2013, 04:33:01 pm »
I've noticed that your BoincTasks do a lot of I/O Read and I//O Write Bytes to the hard drive.
Is there any way to redirect them to a RAM Drive?
Should I reinstall BoincTasks onto the RAM Drive?

Thanks.

Questions / [Resolved] Linux laptop
« on: May 03, 2013, 10:00:47 pm »
My laptop is running Linux.

The repo version of BOINC is always behind the curve.  However, your BoincTasks keeps posting Notices that the laptop is not running the latest revision.
I think you have a conflict of interest here.  I'll be happy to upgrade the laptop's BOINC software as soon as it's available on the repo. Please desist from creating the Notices of old software versions, if that is not the case.

Thanks,
Gandalf

Wish List / [Resolved] 8.8 threads out of a quad
« on: May 01, 2013, 09:52:52 pm »
Reference:

Computer:

Question:

Can someone one explain to me how I can get 8.8 threads out of a quad computer?
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 0.2 + 0.2 + 0.2 + 0.2 = 8.8 active threads.  Is my math wrong?

Thanks,
Gandalf

Wish List / CPU % + GPU %
« on: April 11, 2013, 03:15:45 am »
The BoincTasks Settings > Tasks provides for CPU %, but does not provide for GPU %.  With the advent of the app_config.xml file, more and more attention is being paid to the efficiency of how the GPU is working.  WCG's HCC1 tasking is being completed years ahead of time partially do to the setting of the GPU configuration.  Displaying the GPU % could go a long way to improving the app_config.xml settings.

Sincerely,
Gandalf

Wish List / [Resolved] Expanding/Contracting Applications
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:00:17 pm »
In the BOINCTasks program, Ready to report tasks can contract to provide linear room on the screen.  With all the possible tasks contracted, I am still running out of room with my four current computers.  I am about to bring a fifth computer on line and there will not be any monitoring room left.

Is it possible to make the Status Running contractible?  Running is taking up most of the lines on the screen.  Contracting these lines will provide room to add more computers for monitoring and as long as the Running tasks are running there really is no need to see all of the Running tasks in detail.  And, of course, if one does wish to see a group of Running tasks in detail, one could always click and expand that grouping.

Thanks for the consideration,
Gandalf
