Ok I see the problem I don't catch the -1 from the GPU throttle meaning no GPU found. Probably this translates to 101. And as the GPU is not reporting a temperature there is none.
Next question: In the application column (QCN, Aqua) is there something between () the plan class for the application.

Yes there is (or are):

• "4.14 D-Wave's Adiabatic QUantum Algorithms - Multi-Threaded (mt)" - apparently combined of <user_friendly_name>D-Wave's Adiabatic QUantum Algorithms - Multi-Threaded</user_friendly_name> and <plan_class>mt</plan_class>
• "5.40 QCN Sensor (nci)" - apparently combined of <user_friendly_name>QCN Sensor</user_friendly_name> and <plan_class>nci</plan_class>

BTW, I have one more project with non-empty plan_class - BOINC multithreading test, but without any task. And a couple of projects' sched_request_***.xml files specify an empty plan_class, but neither of them shows () parentheses in the application column.

I will have to modify the gpu detection rule.
1) Will make an exception list mt, nci
2) Or will use the cpu / gpu use data. This is probably the best way to go.

Another question: Do these tasks have an empty Use column?

I can constantly see 101%, both (non-CPU-intensive) QCN and (2 thread) Aqua.

From log: Throttle range was set to 24-100%, few seconds later I've set the maximum to 90%, a bit later to 100% (just the effective throttling started to rise from 24%).

One more possibly importand thing: Neither QCN nor Aqua task lines show the temperature, just 101% throttling. If I suspend Aqua, then e.g. two SETIs are running, no throttling and with temperature (68 degrees) displayed. Additionally there is my QCN with 101% and still no temperature.

And just the combined window is showing the values from TThrottle, a single computer window has both Throttle and Temperature columns empty. (I've missed whether this is by design.)

I stopped expanding on the non combined mode, only if there is an overwhelming interest in some features there....

2) Well, off course the QCN app is accessing the USB device, not TThrottle I just wanted to show that it is actively doing somenthing and consuming some more than -1% of CPU cycles
3) In the BOINC tab, both Aqua and QCN projects are listed. With "Show All", all QCN-related apps are displayed prefixed with (at least one) '$' sign. Aquas are not prefixed.
   On the Programs tab, Aqua is listed among other apps, QCN is not there.

After removing QCN from the list of excluded apps, it appeared in the Programs list. But BoincTasks still shows the same 101%.



I'd like to ask some volunteer running any GPU application (which are usually not a 1.00 CPU apps) to check how much are they being throttled (according to the BT's Throttle column).

When you see a 101 %, check the "enable debug mode" for a short while until you get a line  Recieved from Server:
Give me all the text after this, so I can see what is going wrong.

The application is marked as an "0.01 CPU" class app, maybe the wrong throttle status is displayed because of this?

As an excercise, I've set the throttling range to 24-90% - suddenly the two running SETIs are throttled by (expected) 10%. QCN stays at (incorrect) 101%. So there is apparently some bug with displaying 101% throttling for any application, which does not belong to the usual 1.00 CPU class.

very good idea the icons for controlling the work, but if this icons are accessible
all the time, why not remove from the right click of the mouse, I think it's much
more accessible with the icons.

remove the computer ID number in the computer windows now it has no sense.

what about the column in Projects window with the warehouse time for each
computer/project??

still the behaviour of the AMD/ATI GPU units is not the desired, I guess they
don't work as the CUDA/NVIDIA units, because with the ATI GPU work is showing
as error all the time.

Having a choice is alway better...

Counting the Tasks....
Another way is to move more from projects, what you really need to know like the status to the Tasks view.
It is quite wasteful to do so when there are large numbers of tasks in the system. The project info and all the wu have to be read.
And all the info is only one click away in the tasks view.

You mean the warning. A solution may be to change the warning depending on the Use. When it is 1 CPU the CPU is fully used and is should behave differently.
But I'm not sure what a warning should be that case. What's the cause and what is the result.

V 0.32

- (ADD) Task view: Right click on task menu: Update, Suspend, Resume Project.
- (ADD) A toolbar for: Task: suspend, resume and abort, Project: update, suspend, resume, no new work, allow new work. Works in the Project and Tasks view.
- (CHANGED) Additional checking on the (tool)bars so they won't cause crashes when the stored values are corrupt or inconsistent.

I've restarted my system, not touching TTh settings. Prior to the reboot, the CPU temperature (dual-core) was by some 5-7 degree lower than the throttling threshold. After the reboot, the beginning of the graph shows cores' temperatures rising from -12 to -7 degrees below the limit. So I'd assume there should be no reason for throttling.

The beginning of the throttling line seems to be started stright up from somewhere around 45% to 100% during maybe just one second (can't zoom anymore, I've noticed it after 100 minutes) - this is surely no slow de-throttling, which happens slowly, possibly some throttling variable was used to display throttling value with an initial value of 0%?

Although being just an optical glitch, the graphs (especially 12h+24h ones, for a long time) are unnecessarily scaled to show 19-102 area, while a better zoomed 59-102 would be displayed instead

(My throttling range is set to 24-100%, which is matching the displayed area and possibly the reason for low initial throttling value was somewhere else - I'll try to remember to keep my eye on in the next time I'll reboot (usually once in a couple of weeks )).

One more wish:

• To all time selector popup menus, add some value into the large gap between 1 and 12 hours - maybe 3 or 4 hours.

As far as I can check TThrottle always starts with the minimum value, 24% in this case and works it way up.
When you scale to a longer period the values are middled out so it may be that some peaks are not shown but are actually there.
I will see what I can do about the extra scaling option.

Does not appear to be working for me.  I set it for one and it continues to allow downloading more WUs.
BoincTasks 0.29 on W7 64.

The minimum amount you can set is one day, when the regulator is active. This may not work for a lower number of WU. I've made this for users with large > 1000 amount of WU's.
That works fine but still you can have a overshoot of 5 - 10%.
And that overshoot alone is a bit more than the one you are requesting.

The problem is that the task was gone before it was recorded.

- (ADD) Task view: Column Use, how much GPU and CPU a task is asking. Like 0.21C + 1.00NV or 0.04C + 1.00NV.
- (ADD) Settings dialog -> Tasks check "Condense Use column", to make the Use column text more compact.
- (CHANGED) Message view: Now the focus is locked on the last line and only by clicking to another line above the last, the lock is released. Now as soon as the user wants to scroll remove the lock on the last line.
- (CHANGED) Task view: While filtered give real () class instead of (gpu); like (cuda), (cuda23) or (ABP1cuda23).
- (CHANGED) Task view: Show the real temperature, for the individual GPU's, instead of the max temperature for all of them.

I have just tried to install BT 0.30.  Norton 360 Sonar detected it as a risk and quarantined the installation file (the file downloaded from efmer).  Previous installations have worked ok.

You can:

A) Wait for the next version.
B) Tell me what version you are using 32 of 64. And I need to know: Name of detection given by Symantec. So I can file a false positive.

in tasks tab, right click and suspend and looks like that nothing happens.

"waiting to run" or "ready to start" instead as "suspended by user"

Yep, I expected more troubles, but these are the only things right now.
The suspended by user is a question of taste, the state stays as it actually is.
But for about 2 weeks I'm busy with my hiking site. So I will be finished before my next hiking trip.
I will only do these two or other bugs that show up.

In the history, what does the "Reported: Ok (u)" mean?

An extra check (u) means upload. The task is only seen while uploading and was not seen as waiting to report.
When a task reports in immediately and asks for new work ,the task is gone before BoincTasks can see it as waiting to report.

I've not managed to let my BT 0.30 show any temperature or throttle states in their columns. How to set the communication up? In TThrottle, BT checkbox is enabled.

just installed, what does show the TThrottle column??

The amount of throttling. 0 (gone) = not throttling.

in the computer that I've installed BT is showing 30 when TThrottle is showing around 70
the temperature is the same.
but the tthrottle is only shown in the "server" computer, not the "hosts"

TThrottle gives the running % while BoincTasks gives the throttled %.
70 TThrottle = 70% running = 30 BoincTasks = 30% throttled.
BoincTasks value = 100 - TThrottle value

The throttle is not shown when it is 0 = running full (throttle).
